Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Manager, Facilities Operation, under the direction of the HVAC/Mechanical lead hand, the incumbent performs a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair of equipment and assisting the skilled trades.

Accountabilities:

  • Respects and responds to direction given by the lead hand;
  • Makes the lead hand aware of any damage noted to building equipment;
  • Responds to trades related service calls as an initial response using the TMA work order system;
  • Completes HVAC preventative maintenance coil cleaning;
  • Cleans boiler rooms, mechanical rooms, electrical rooms and shops on a regular basis;
  • Completes services and PM\'s on mechanical and related equipment;
  • Completes work orders with time and materials;
  • Performs life safety regulatory inspections;
  • Carries out repairs to HVAC/Mechanical equipment within trade license/capabilities;
  • Understands and complies with all Departmental Policies and Procedures;
  • Operates equipment in accordance with safe operating procedures and reports any required repairs and servicing to the lead hand immediately;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned;
Qualifications:
  • Documented minimum 1-year experience and education in building HVAC, maintenance, equipment and repair;
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability to perform minor repairs to equipment;
  • Must possess a valid Class-G Ontario Driver\'s license;
  • Must possess a Gas 3 Certification;
  • Must possess Working at Heights and LOTO Certification.
  • Computer literacy, Siemens Insight/Desigo BAS, TMA work order system, Outlook Email;
  • Teamwork - ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision. Shares information with team members. Is collaborative in dealing with customers and fellow employees;
  • Customer focused - responds promptly to customer needs. Uses customer information to improve service. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers;

Working Conditions:
  • Physical effort: heavy lifting, reaching, bending, stretching, climbing;
  • Physical environment: Varying temperatures including excessive heat, noise, exposure to fumes, chemicals and solvents, dirty water including sewage waste products and possibly infectious or toxic environment. Working in cramped quarters;
  • Sensory attention: Attention to detail when working with equipment;
  • Mental stress: Medium;
Compensation:

Rate of Pay: $25.54 hour

Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, continuing position. The normal hours of work are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (including 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break), Monday to Friday. Flexibility in hours will be required, including evening and/or weekend work due to work volume. When possible, the manager will adjust the work schedule so that no more than 40 hours are worked in a week.
