About the Role
Canada Royal Milk is seeking a highly skilled
G1-certified HVAC Maintenance Technician
to join our cross-functional technical and maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all HVAC systems across the facility, including high-capacity rooftop units, make-up air units, and related mechanical components.
In addition to HVAC systems, the technician will support the broader maintenance team in optimizing the performance, reliability, and efficiency of all plant utilities and process equipment. This role involves close collaboration with engineers, electricians, millwrights, and production operators to meet high standards of operational excellence and safety.
Job Requirements
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada and have strong English language skills. The ability to read and understand written English and communicate in English both spoken and in writing is a requirement of the job.
Education & Certifications
Post-secondary education in HVAC, Building Systems, or a related field -- OR equivalent work experience
TSSA Gas Fitter 1 (G1) Certification
(required)
Manlift and forklift certification (asset)
Experience
Experience in a manufacturing or food production environment (preferred)
Familiarity with working at heights and in physically demanding conditions
Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial or industrial HVAC systems
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Operate and monitor the Building Automation System (BAS) to maintain air balance, temperature, humidity, and pressure throughout the facility
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, ventilation, and air filtration systems, including high-capacity gas-fired appliances
Optimize system efficiency to reduce energy consumption and respond to Global Adjustment (GA) peak days
Perform diagnostics and repairs on gas and electric HVAC controls
Maintain and troubleshoot AHUs, RTUs, MAUs, chillers, heat exchangers, humidifiers, and refrigeration systems
Use CMMS to track work orders, maintenance logs, and asset performance
Provide technical support and mentorship to other maintenance personnel
Identify and report equipment performance issues, maintenance risks, or required upgrades
Assist in capital equipment installation and commissioning
Maintain compliance with GMPs, HACCP, Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and internal food safety protocols
Ensure timely completion of emergency and scheduled repairs
Maintain clean, safe, and organized mechanical spaces and work areas
Record and document daily work activities, inspections, and findings
Participate in training and certification programs to stay current on industry best practices
Perform general facility maintenance as needed
Contribute to safety initiatives and continuous improvement projects
Working Conditions
The standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Most of the work occurs during regular weekday office hours. However, as an international company with frequent interaction with head office, hours of work involved may vary to accommodate differences in time zones. Flexible hours are required and may include evening and week-end hours.
This job operates in office and food manufacturing setting. Travel may be required, both within Canada and internationally.
