The HVAC Maintainer will work within the Whiteshell Laboratories (WL) Maintenance Planning & Work Management group providing decommissioning, manufacturing, construction, maintenance and services to site customers. CNL Employees perform all duties in accordance with established health and safety and regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures (i.e. utilizing personal protective equipment as per safe work procedures). Notifies management or supervisor of all occurrences, injuries, illnesses or safety and health concerns which are likely to harm themselves, their co-workers or any other on the premises in a timely manner and in accordance with established reporting requirements.
What will you be doing?
\xc2\xb7 Reading, interpreting engineering drawings and sketches as required, providing material take-offs and labor estimates.
\xc2\xb7 Determining how equipment operates by looking at a diagram or blueprint.
\xc2\xb7 Utilizing initiative and judgement to organize and maintain flow of work and accuracy of records.
\xc2\xb7 Adapting to a changing environment and responding with initiative.
\xc2\xb7 Installing, modifying, trouble-shooting, maintaining and adjusting all types of refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation equipment.
\xc2\xb7 Changing roughing filters, HEPA filters and charcoal filters, performing differential readings of HEPA filters.
\xc2\xb7 Performing air balancing of ventilation systems and performing airflow checks on fume hoods.
\xc2\xb7 Recharging/discharging refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and maintaining records in accordance with the Ozone Depleting Substances Act and Regulation.
\xc2\xb7 Providing input into work scope and completing estimates regarding HVAC system installation and modifications.
\xc2\xb7 Initiating service requests and coordinating repairs with other trades, powerhouse, or design staff.
\xc2\xb7 Troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining natural gas/propane equipment on site.
\xc2\xb7 Performing work in an efficient, safe and timely manner and to the specified quality requirements.
\xc2\xb7 Working extended hours and off normal work shifts to support project needs.
\xc2\xb7 Maintaining confidentiality in all matters.
\xc2\xb7 Performing other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for:
\xc2\xb7 High school graduate or equivalent having completed four-year apprenticeship training or equivalent and be a fully qualified journeyman with an Interprovincial ticket as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Commercial.
\xc2\xb7 Must possess certified ticket for the handling of Ozone Depleting Substances in accordance with Federal/Manitoba legislation.
\xc2\xb7 Must hold and maintain a current Natural Gas B, or A ticket.
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of Operation and adjustment of the DSC 8500 system and associated pneumatic controls would be considered an asset.
\xc2\xb7 Excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to maintain successful working relations at all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.
\xc2\xb7 Punctual, dependable and safety minded.
\xc2\xb7 Detail oriented aptitude with the ability to meet deadlines with accuracy.
\xc2\xb7 Demonstrates responsibility and is accountable for accurately handling the details associated with one\xe2\x80\x99s work.
\xc2\xb7 Good comprehension skills to interpret drawings and code specifications.
\xc2\xb7 Demonstrated proficiency in the use and application of applicable codes, regulations, and by- laws.
\xc2\xb7 Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
\xc2\xb7 Possess the physical stamina to stand for long periods of time, work in awkward or cramped confined locations.
\xc2\xb7 Strength and the ability to work at heights on construction and industrial sites.
\xc2\xb7 Mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
\xc2\xb7 Formal training and demonstrated proficiency in the following areas of study; Mathematics, Science and Communications related to the trade; Basic refrigeration cycles, heat and temperature, Evaporators, feed valves and refrigerant controls and Pneumatic controls.
\xc2\xb7 Experience with compressors, fittings and valves, Regulators and pilot operating valves, trade tools, test instruments.
\xc2\xb7 Experience making mechanical, brazed and soldered connections.
\xc2\xb7 Experience with Oxyacetylene and electrical arc welding, Natural Gas Valves and associated equipment.
\xc2\xb7 Air conditioning principles, systems and controls and defrosting, ice making machines, thermodynamics.
