for the Fall 2024 semester
DISCIPLINE: HUMANITIES/PHILOSOPHY/RELIGION (345)
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Regular full-time contract spread over 2 semesters (available post/poste disponible) for the 2024-2025 academic year leading to possible tenure.
AREA OF EXPERTISE: To teach Humanities/Philosophy/Religion and/or Social Science Research Methods courses to students enrolled in pre-university and/or professional programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
HUMANITIES (345) PHILOSOPHY (340) RELIGION (370)
- Masters degree in a related discipline(s) to be taught or equivalent*
- Several years related teaching experience at the post-secondary level preferred
- Knowledge of Quantitative and Research Methods in the Social Sciences preferred
- Ability to collaborate within a departmental team to achieve common objectives
- Excellent English communication skills essential
- Bilingualism (English/French) and ability to teach in French are preferred, as in the context of Bill 96 and the changes to the Charte de la langue fran\xc3\xa7aise, if there is a need, the candidate must be willing and able to teach in French
- Equivalent establishes a general comparison between two official education systems
The Humanities, Philosophy and Religion department is actively seeking teachers with knowledge in the following areas:
- Critical approaches to teaching that are attentive to intersectional oppression and forms of social marginalization across the disciplines
- Indigenous worldviews, knowledges and pedagogies
- Theoretical and cultural production from the Global South and from marginalized communities
- Climate crisis impacts and climate justice
- Critical approaches to issues in contemporary media
- The arts and their socio-cultural context
Demonstrated knowledge, experience and expertise in these areas will be considered an asset.
