To support that, the Crop Protection Human Safety Team is currently seeking a Technical Expert in Toxicology to support our Canadian, as well as North American Business and do so within a collaborative and interdisciplinary Canadian, North American and Global team environment.We have a Flexible Work Location approach, and this role will ideally be based in or near Guelph, ON or may be in Calgary, Alberta or remotely across Canada. You must currently be living in Canada and have a valid passport.Duties:

  • Provide toxicology expertise for Syngenta North America with a focus on local authorities using existing and novel scientific approaches to support new and on-going registration of pesticidal active ingredients and formulated products.
  • Prepare written documentation: scientific positions; summary documents; answers to questions from North American regulators.
  • Draft and deliver presentations to Syngenta business and regulatory colleagues as well as regulatory authorities.
  • Create and implement strategies to address emerging issues based on current and best science.
  • Contextualize toxicology results to inform and guide risk assessments as well as regulatory and commercial strategy.
  • Contribute to the design and conduct of toxicology studies with a focus on North American requirements.
  • Bring innovation to the Human Safety Toxicology team by participating in and communicating advances in the field of toxicology assessment and interpretation.
  • Represent Syngenta to external scientists, regulators, grower groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Interface with regional/global Product Safety, Regulatory and Marketing colleagues at Syngenta to align Human Safety Toxicology & Risk Assessment activities with the greater organizational goals.
Qualifications
  • Has a Ph.D in toxicology, pharmacology, chemistry or other relevant disciplines; applicants with a M.Sc. degree plus commensurate industrial, academic or governmental experience will be considered.
  • Is able to manage multiple projects, can prioritize and adapt work responsibilities to meet deadlines.
  • Thrives in a multidisciplinary team environment while being able to work autonomously.
  • Has excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation, with the ability to contextualize knowledge gained in regulatory context.
  • Understands how results from toxicology studies are applied in the context of human health risk assessment.
  • Effectively communicates in written and oral media and has excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Has a valid passport for travel within North America.
