Within Canada, Burckhardt Compression has a strong Services division in which we aim to provide one-stop reciprocating service for our customers. Through our Canadian operations, Burckhardt Compression (Canada) Inc. (BCCA) provides field service, repair and engineering/revamp services and spare parts for any brand of reciprocating compressor. Burckhardt Compression "BCCA" has an exciting opportunity to learn about the day to day administrative functions of HR for a 3-4 month HR Summer Student. Due to the nature of the position, this role will be required to be in office. Hours: 8:00AM ? 4:30PM Type: 3?4-month contract Location: South Edmonton This hourly position will be based in our Edmonton, AB facility and will work a standard 40-hour workweek. Key Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility of HR Portal administration including reporting, new hires, promotions, transfers, changes, updates, terminations & auditing; ensuring it is effectively utilized to full capacity and data integrity is managed and maintained.
  • Document Management ? Audit, create, organize, and digitalize employee files, HR documents, performance appraisals, etc.
  • Recruitment - Posting jobs, screening resumes, conducting screening interviews, scheduling manager interviews, creating candidate packages.
  • Active recruitment - Assist HR Manager with active recruitment for all roles.
  • Onboarding - Coordinate new hire equipment, support onboarding administrative tasks for new hires including scheduling and follow up with Hiring Managers on progress for onboarding plans.
  • Reporting - Assist with HR monthly and as needed reporting.
  • HR Policies - Update Employee handbook.
  • HR Compliance - Assist with organizational compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships, representing the HR team, at all levels of the organization.
  • Work with the HR Manager to prepare all proper employee documentation including offer letters, promotional agreements, and termination and resignation documentation.
  • Support employee investigations by providing administrative support through note taking and preparing reports.
  • Provide administrative support to digital files, forms, kofax-based documents, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ensure boardrooms and training room workspaces are set up when required.
  • Assist in event planning and execution for all internal and staff engagement functions and event coordination including but not limited to; summer BBQ, town halls, employee events.
  • Manage and organize in person exit interviews.
  • Answer general employee questions, draft letters of employment and respond to requests for information.
  • Exercise and demonstrate sound judgment, strict confidentiality, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in meetings; deliver presentations as required.
  • Special Projects - Other duties as reasonably required.
Who We Need On Our Team
  • You are currently enrolled in a Human Resources degree or diploma, or equivalent program.

  • Experience with HRIS system(s) or SharePoint is considered an asset.
  • Must have own transportation.
