POSITION: Human Resources Specialist
DURATION: Permanent Full-Time
PAY SCALE: $70,545.64 to $81,398.81
(2023 rates; subject to adjustment pending outcome of collective bargaining)

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible and accountable to the Director of Human Resources for the efficient and timely performance of the assigned duties and responsibilities. Specific responsibilities shall include but not be limited to:
Collaborates with the Director - Human Resources to ensure the effective implement of HR programs, processes and initiatives.
Maintain current knowledge of employment related legislation and collective agreements, ensuring accurate interpretation and application.
Contributes to the development, review and consistent application of HR policies and procedures.
Manages the full recruitment life cycle including posting vacancies, screening applications, coordinating and facilitating pre-employment testing, scheduling and facilitating interviews and extending offers of employment.
Partners with Inspectors to define job requirements and prepare accurate job descriptions.
Represent the Service at recruitment events and community building initiatives alongside the Constable - Recruitment.
Provide advice and support to supervision and employees on HR matters, including accommodations, leaves of absence, absenteeism, performance management and conflict resolution.
Conduct workplace investigations when required, ensuring fair and timely resolution.
Promotes a positive and respectful workplace culture.
Prepares personnel change notifications (TB483s), including incremental increases, classification changes, scheduling adjustments, hires and terminations.
Accurately calculate employee timebanks at time of hire, schedule changes, retirement and/or termination.
Maintain complete and up-to-date personnel files, ensuring timely entry of information.
Serves as the first point of contact for walk-in and email enquires related to HR matters.
Provides support to the Return to Work & Reintegration Specialist as needed.
All other duties as assigned within the core competencies.
