About the Role
Reporting to the Chief of People Operations, BHC's
Human Resources Specialists
play a key role in driving BHC's people-first culture, supporting our growing collective of 15+ venues and 1000+ team members.
This role is responsible for coordinating and executing a variety of
people programs, talent management, and compliance initiatives
, ensuring BHC remains a great place to work and grow.
You'll be part of an energetic and collaborative
People Operations

What You'll Do:

Performance Success Support (40%)
Serve as the first point of contact for employee and manager HR inquiries
Provide guidance on policies, performance management, and workplace best practices
Support investigations and documentation related to employee concerns, in alignment with Alberta Employment Standards and BHC policies
Foster positive working relationships through coaching, consistency, and clear communication
Maintain confidential and accurate employee records

Recruitment, Onboarding & Retention (30%)
Complete full-cycle recruitment for Back of House teams, and partner with venue leadership to support Front of House teams
Maintain job postings and applicant tracking
Support employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs
Collaborate with managers on retention strategies and internal mobility

HR Programs, Systems & Compliance (30%)
Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining HR policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with
Alberta Employment Standards Code
,
Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)
, and
Human Rights legislation
Maintain HR systems and ensure data accuracy
Support HR metrics, reporting, and analytics to inform decision-making
Participate in HR projects such as training initiatives, performance reviews, and policy updates
Support payroll and benefits processes in collaboration with the Payroll & Benefits team and Employee Housing team

What You Bring
3-5 years of progressive experience in
Human Resources
, ideally within hospitality or a multi-location organization
Post-secondary education in
Human Resources, Business, or a related field
CPHR designation
(or working toward it) preferred
Strong understanding of
Alberta Employment Standards
,
Human Rights
, and
OHS
legislation
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across teams
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and conflict-resolution skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency with tech
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Enthusiasm for hospitality and a genuine passion for people
