Human Resources Recruitment Specialist (12 Months Mat Leave)

Job Description

This position is for a Maternity Leave coverage. The length of the MAT Leave contract is currently set for 12 months, but may be extended further if required. Position is looking to be filled immediately to support training.

The purpose of the position of Recruitment Specialist is to support the strategic goals of the company within the functions of full cycle recruiting, manpower planning, compensation, and staffing requirements.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION



Internally, the Recruitment Specialist provides information to, and gets information from, all levels within the organization. The position has regular contact with all Supervisors, Managers and the President for all recruitment related issues. The position regularly provides information to employees about payroll, group benefits, registered pension plan, and company policies and procedures. The position has regular interaction with external contacts such as recruiting agencies, training providers, payroll providers, group benefits and pension plan carriers, and government agencies.

The Recruitment Specialist has moderate freedom to act within generally established guidelines in order to accomplish human resources related tasks. Generally the position can resolve most issues alone, only referring to the Administration Manager if changes in procedures, policies or methods are necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS



Completion of a post secondary education is necessary. Completion of a Human Resources Management program, or CHRP designation, is considered an asset.

The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge and strong understanding of all related legislations and regulations within the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, and all other applicable legislations and regulations. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and Human Resources Information Systems are required. Good organizational and interpersonal skills are required in order to balance multiple priorities and problem-solve issues with PWO personnel.

Strong oral and written communication skills are required. The incumbent must communicate within all levels of the organization, as well as with many external contacts including recruiting agencies, benefit providers, government agencies, and etc.

At least two years handling full cycle recruitment and onboarding is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES



1. Responsible for all recruiting and selection of candidates for all open positions within the company. Determines nature of recruiting method, screens resumes, selects candidates for interviews, performs initial interview and checks references. Advises Managers, and the President if necessary, of candidates strengths and weaknesses in order to aid the management team in the decision making process.

2. Responsible for all compensation related activities. Monitors survey material in order to determine competitiveness of current compensation program and makes suggestions for improvements. Performs job analysis, writes job descriptions, and participates in job evaluation process in order to create pay policy. Advises of appropriate changes to pay during budgetary periods and during annual wage evaluation. Advises of appropriate changes to benefits program in order to remain competitive with the market and ensure the company and employees are receiving as much value as possible.

3. Attends all employee relations meetings with PWO personnel and management upon request. Attends and documents employee disciplines, terminations, and other meetings deemed to be relevant for the Human Resources Generalist to attend.

4. Responsible for policy and procedure development. Writes policies in order to clarify information for employees and management, incorporating information from relevant legislation as required (e.g. Employment Standards Act, OHSA). Monitors changes to legislation and court decisions and updates company policies and procedures when necessary.

5. Performs work in a conscientious, accurate, business-like and courteous manner.

6. Efficient use of electronic data collection software.

7. Performs all duties within the 5S standards.

8. Follows and performs to the processes and instructions outlined in the Process House that are applicable to the department.

9. Compliance to all company HR policies and procedures.

10. Responsible for working safely, complying with safety policies and procedures, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) required in the designated areas as per company policy.

11. Responsible for working safely and keeping a safe work area for themselves and fellow employees. Reporting any unsafe working conditions, practices, and work-related injuries immediately to his/her Manager.

12. Any other job-related duties characteristic to the position, as may be assigned from time to time by the Manager and management team.
