ABOUT THE ROLE
S&S Activewear Canada is seeking a dynamic and strategic HR Manager to lead human resources operations for its Canadian division, part of a US-based apparel wholesale and distribution business. This role will be instrumental in fostering a positive work environment, driving talent management initiatives, and ensuring compliance with Canadian labor laws. The position supports a lean corporate structure and three distribution centers across Vaughan, ON, Calgary, AB, and Vancouver, BC. Key business partners include the Vice President of the Commercial team and the Distribution Center Operations Director. The successful candidate will oversee HR strategies for approximately 150 distribution center employees and 75 corporate staff across Canada.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
HR Strategy & Leadership - Act as the primary HR contact for leadership and business partners, providing expert guidance on daily operations while mentoring junior HR staff.
Payroll & Benefits Administration - Manage Canadian payroll and benefits processes, ensuring compliance and competitive compensation structures.
Employee Engagement & Retention - Develop and implement initiatives that promote employee satisfaction, recognition, wellbeing, and engagement.
Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution - Lead confidential investigations and manage performance, workplace conflict, and compliance cases.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning - Partner with senior leaders to drive hiring strategies, workforce planning, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts.
Legal & Regulatory Compliance - Ensure adherence to federal and provincial labor laws, employment standards, and immigration regulations.
Performance & Talent Management - Oversee performance review processes, succession planning, and career development programs to support business growth.
Policy Development & Implementation - Draft, update, and implement HR policies and procedures across corporate and distribution center operations.
HR Technology & Process Optimization - Improve HR systems for enhanced operational efficiency, reporting, and compliance tracking.
Training & Development - Establish learning and development programs to foster employee skill-building and professional growth.
Workplace Safety & Wellness - Ensure workplace safety standards are met and promote wellness initiatives for employees.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
7-10 years of progressive HR experience, with 3-5 years in a managerial role.
Proven leadership and change management experience in a dynamic and growing organization.
Strong experience managing payroll operations (1-2 years with Dayforce preferred).
Full work authorization in Canada required.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; CPHR designation is a strong asset.
Advanced knowledge of Canadian employment laws, regulatory compliance, and workplace health & safety standards.
Experience leading HR projects, including workforce planning, retention strategies, and DEI initiatives.
Expertise in labor relations, and conflict resolution.
Ability to develop and implement HR analytics and metrics to optimize decision-making.
Skilled in performance management, coaching, and succession planning to support business growth.
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint for executive reporting and presentations.
Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with experience working cross-functionally in corporate and operations environments.
Proven ability to build high-performance teams, drive engagement, and create a collaborative work culture.
