About the Role Reporting to the Executive Director, The Human Resources Manager leads the human resources function for the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation (VGFN). This role is essential in creating cohesive HR department that spearheads initiatives and promotes HR best practices to enhance individual performance, organizational performance and fosters a positive work environment aligned with with VGFN\'s strategic goals. What You Will Do: \xc2\xb7 Oversee day-to-day operations and department staff, organizing team activities, communicating work goals, developing plans to achieve goals, evaluating progress, and distributing information. \xc2\xb7 Promote capacity development through performance evaluations, encourage individual development, and support personnel issues and problem-solving. \xc2\xb7 Manage the entire recruitment life cycle, including onboarding and offboarding processes. \xc2\xb7 Ensure a comprehensive total compensation framework that is fair and valued to attract and retain employees. \xc2\xb7 Provide support and guidance to Directors in managing employee issues. \xc2\xb7 Oversee the employee performance management system, guiding management in setting goals and managing performance through annual reviews and workplans. \xc2\xb7 Identify areas for individual development to meet current and future position expectations. \xc2\xb7 Assess organizational needs to develop an annual master plan for employee training and development, including timelines, resources, and vendors. \xc2\xb7 Develop, deliver, and evaluate training programs and materials to retain talent, develop employees and leaders, and align employees with VGFN strategic goals. \xc2\xb7 Lead health and safety training to ensure adherence to safety regulations and acts, and support the joint occupational health and safety committee. \xc2\xb7 Manage the HR digital records system (e.g., HR drives, Payworks), train new employees to use payroll systems and access documents, and ensure strong privacy standards and processes are in place. \xc2\xb7 Support the Executive Director by carrying out VGFN\xe2\x80\x99s HR functions and executing HR strategies. \xc2\xb7 Ensure HR representation and service are present and coordinated across VGFN. \xc2\xb7 Perform all other duties as assigned What you bring:
An in-depth understanding and deep appreciation for Indigenous People and their history, culture, traditions, and languages.
A strong desire to uplift and support our community.
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in business, human resources management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of significant experience and training.
Managing human resource programs, budgets, and personnel.
Considerable experience in various HR functions such as talent acquisition, organizational development, performance management, disability management, human resource planning, compensation, and/or employee engagement.
Leading training and development initiatives to build workforce capacity.
Providing advice and recommendations to senior decision-makers.
Experience working in an Indigenous northern community is an asset.
