Human Resources Manager - Freeman Lumber (Greenfield, NS)

Freeman Lumber, one of North America's oldest family?run sawmills, is hiring a

hands?on Human Resources Manager

to join our leadership team. This is a working manager role in a non?union environment, supporting 200 employees across all levels of the mill -- from labourers and production workers to trades, supervisors, and management.

Responsibilities:

Lead recruitment and onboarding, including support for temporary foreign workers Ensure compliance with immigration programs, labour standards, and employment laws Provide day?to?day HR support in employee relations, performance management, leave administration, discipline, and compensation/benefits Be visible and approachable on the shop floor, following up promptly on employee concerns Coach supervisors and managers, conduct investigations, and recommend solutions Coordinate training and development initiatives Develop and communicate clear HR policies and procedures Maintain HR records and deliver workforce reporting Represent Freeman Lumber through community engagement

Qualifications:

Diploma or degree in Human Resources (or equivalent experience) 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in manufacturing/industrial settings Knowledge of Nova Scotia labour standards and HR best practices Working knowledge of immigration processes Strong recruitment, conflict resolution, and coaching skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication skills
