We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources professional to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR programs that shape organizational culture, strengthen employee engagement, and ensure compliance with employment legislation. Prior Human Resources experience in the hospitality industry is required (hotels, resturants, etc.)
This is a full-time, onsite position located in a rural community in Nova Scotia within a hospitality environment. Candidates should be comfortable working in a setting that requires consistent onsite presence to support daily operations, customer service, and team collaboration. Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal employment laws, including OH&S, equity, and labor standards.
Audit existing HR functions and recommend improvements to align with organizational needs and budgets.
Employee Relations & Culture
Oversee complex employee relations issues including investigations, conflict resolution, progressive discipline, and documentation.
Champion culture transformation initiatives that align with organizational values and strategic goals.
Serve as a visible and approachable HR presence, fostering confidentiality, fairness, and trust.
Recruitment & Workforce Planning
Lead recruitment efforts for seasonal and full-time roles, ensuring consistent and efficient hiring practices.
Support workforce planning, labor forecasting, and transition periods between seasonal and year-round operations.
Training & Development
Design and facilitate onboarding, leadership development, conflict resolution, and performance management programs.
Create and deliver training sessions that engage employees, including wellness and mindfulness initiatives.
Coach managers to strengthen accountability, people leadership, and HR best practice application.
Engagement & Performance
Conduct employee engagement surveys, analyze results, and lead implementation of action plans to improve retention and satisfaction.
Advise on compensation practices, develop pay bands, and support benefits administration.
Prepare and update employment contracts and ensure accurate documentation.
Qualifications
3-7 years of progressive HR experience, ideally within hospitality, recreation, or seasonal operations.
Solid knowledge of Canadian employment law, HR standards, and compliance expectations across provinces.
Demonstrated success in building or revitalizing HR programs and policies.
Experience handling sensitive employee relations issues with discretion and professionalism.
Proven track record in cultural change, organizational development, and employee engagement.
Strong communication, coaching, and leadership influence skills.
