Human Resources Manager

to join our team at our Annacis Island facility in Delta. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a key leadership role, shape the next chapter of Ideal's people strategy, and support a dynamic, fast-paced industrial environment.

Reporting to the President, the Human Resources Manager is accountable for delivering a full spectrum of HR programs, policies, and services, and for ensuring consistent, pragmatic support to all levels of the organization. This role will lead the HR function, oversee day-to-day operations, drive organizational improvements, and strengthen our ability to attract, retain, and develop exceptional people.

HIGHLIGHTS OF JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:



Leadership & HR Operations



Lead the HR function, ensuring effective delivery of recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, and training programs. Provide direct counsel to senior management and supervisors on personnel management, conflict resolution, progressive discipline, and organizational planning. Maintain and continuously improve HR policies, procedures, and documentation. Support organizational change initiatives and workforce planning strategies aligned with company goals. Oversee HR data, metrics, and reporting to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely insight.

Talent Acquisition & Development



Guide recruitment strategies across trades, technical, and professional roles. Manage the full talent acquisition lifecycle. Oversee onboarding, orientation, and workforce integration processes. Support and influence succession planning, employee development pathways, and training programs. Identify skills gaps and collaborate with department leaders to address training and competency needs.

Employee Relations & Culture



Build trust-based relationships with employees at all levels. Resolve sensitive employee issues with discretion, fairness, and consistency. Foster an environment aligned with Ideal Welders' values of safety, craftsmanship, teamwork, and accountability. Support internal communication, engagement programs, and culture-building initiatives.

Payroll/Benefits/Compliance



Oversee administration of benefits, leaves, disability claims, and return-to-work programs. Support payroll processes and ensure accurate interpretation of compensation structures and agreements. Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC, employment standards, privacy requirements, and internal policies. Maintain strong working knowledge of employment laws and support the leadership team in adhering to them.

HR Systems & Process Improvement



Lead the transition from legacy HR processes to modernized digital systems as part of Ideal Welders' growth and Business Central implementation. Identify and implement process improvements that simplify workflows and enhance HR service delivery.

HERE'S WHAT WE'RE SEEKING IN THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:



A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. CPHR designation (or working towards it) is an asset. Minimum 7 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a management role. Demonstrated leadership experience in Human Resources within industrial, manufacturing, construction, or fabrication environments. Proven ability to manage employee relations, guide supervisors, and operate confidently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting. In-depth knowledge of provincial employment legislation, including the BC Human Rights Code, Workers Compensation Act, and Employment Standards Act. Solid understanding of HR best practices. Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills. Experience working in a unionized environment. Strong communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to balance empathy with a firm, practical approach. Ability to influence change, drive continuous improvement, and bring a modern HR mindset to a growing organization. Experience with HRIS systems, digital transformation initiatives, or ERP-integrated HR workflows is an asset. Highly dependable, tactful, and trustworthy, with a genuine interest in supporting people and strengthening organizational effectiveness.
