Under the guidance of the Human Resources Business Partner, the intern will provide support to the Human Resources team at the Oshawa Public Libraries.

Up to 12 hours per week. Business hours: Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM

Start: September 2, 2025 - End: December 19, 2025
General Description of Duties:
Assist and work directly with the Human Resources Generalist and Human Resources Assistant in completing delegated HR tasks.
Compile and present memos, letters, proposals, and reports professionally and accurately.
Participate in Labour Relations activities.
Screen job candidates and participate in the recruitment process, including; interviews, reference checks and onboarding.
Research and develop organizational policies and procedures.
Assist with staff forecasting to support Human Resources planning.
Participate in delivering the Human Resources orientation program for new employees.
Update and maintain employee files.
Update Human Resources records and Oshawa Public Libraries HRIS.
Archiving and shredding of Human Resources documents.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualification & Education:
Intern must be enrolled in a designated post-secondary institution with a concentration in Human Resources Management and/or Labour Relations degree or diploma. Intern should be able to take direction well from others and be willing to learn all areas of Human Resources.
A Criminal Record Check is required.
