Job Description


Our client in the construction/paving industry is looking for a Human Resources Manager for a 1- Year Maternity leave coverage. This position plays a critical role in managing the human resources functions within the organization, including both unionized and non-unionized employees. The HR Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with labor laws, developing and implementing HR policies, fostering positive employee relations, recruitment, and supporting the company\'s strategic goals. Please note, this is an onsite position.

How you\'ll make an impact:

\xc2\xb7 Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and grievances.

\xc2\xb7 Foster positive employee relations through effective communication, conflict resolution, and promoting a fair and inclusive work environment.

\xc2\xb7 Collaborate with management and union representatives (if applicable) to address employee-related issues and maintain a harmonious workplace.

\xc2\xb7 Develop and implement effective full-cycle recruitment and selection strategies to attract and retain qualified talent. Specific hiring for office personnel, trades workers, drivers, and more.

\xc2\xb7 Coordinate and conduct interviews, reference checks, and employment verifications.

\xc2\xb7 Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including orientation, training, and necessary paperwork.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.

Maintain accurate HR records, including personnel files, time and attendance records, and training documentation.

What we\'re looking for:

- Proven experience as an HR Manager or Senior HR Generalist in similar role, preferably within a unionized and non-unionized environment.
- Experience in a trades environment
- Sound knowledge of Ontario labor laws, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable), and HR best practices.
- Strong understanding of employee relations principles and ability to handle employee concerns and grievances.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficient in HRIS systems, MS Office, and other HR-related software.
