Reporting to the Regional HR Director, the HR Generalist is responsible for developing and enhancing the organization\'s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.

Key Accountabilities

1. Partner with regional HR Managers to provide support and guidance for issues related to discipline, training, staffing, promotions, transfers and other similar matters.

2. Provide operational support for all HR-related activities, including but not limited to managing the new hire onboarding process, responding to unemployment claims, conducting employment verifications, and preparing employee communications.

3. Assist with addressing employees\' general concerns and inquiries, ensuring appropriate follow-up and responsiveness. Escalate complex issues to appropriate team members.

4. Provide employee relations support by investigating employee complaints and documenting the actions taken.

5. Keep abreast of changes to the regulatory environment, legal requirements and government reporting regulations to ensure all policies/procedures are managed within compliance parameters.

6. Maintain the job description library, ensuring the most current documents are filed in the appropriate document structure; update current job descriptions when needed.

7. Maintain electronic and paper employee files and coordinate with employees on leaves of absence.

8. Provide recruiting support, including: reviewing resumes, coordinating and conducting interviews, conducting pre-employment and other initial evaluations, coordinating and sending offers.

9. Assist in the termination process, including manager and employee discussions, performing exit interviews, completing necessary documentation, and analyzing termination data.

10. Conduct periodic audits of files/forms; conduct HR audits in accordance with the cyclical calendar of audits; conduct ad hoc research and report generation for HR management.

11. Establish solid and effective working relationships with internal/external customers to promote and support positive employee relations, company culture and employee engagement efforts.

12. Provide technical, administrative support (including mail merges, spreadsheet formulas, forms, etc.).

13. Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • College or bachelor\'s degree in Human Resources Management, business administration or related. Pursuing or completing CHRP or CHRL is an asset
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience with at least 1 year in an HR Generalist role.
  • In-depth knowledge of MS Office Suite is preferred, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with maintaining databases/HRIS systems is required. Knowledge of UKG is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian labour laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English and the ability to work with people at all levels and across provinces are required.

$78,000 - $81,000 a year
