Role Summary
OpTalent is recruiting on behalf of a growing agricultural tourism operation for a Human Resources Generalist & Administrator. This role combines HR responsibilities with hands-on administrative support in a fast-paced, seasonal environment, including:
Farm operations
Retail / farm market
Food service / hospitality
Events and seasonal attractions
The HR Generalist & Administrator will support managers, improve team systems, and strengthen HR operations across a diverse workforce of full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources
Full-cycle recruitment for seasonal and year-round roles
Onboarding, orientation, and offboarding administration
Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
Support payroll, timekeeping, and attendance tracking
Assist with benefits administration and employee inquiries
Support employee relations (coaching, performance, corrective actions)
Ensure compliance with labor laws
Develop and maintain HR policies, handbooks, and procedures
Coordinate training programs and safety compliance initiatives
Administrative & Operational Support
Provide administrative support to farm leadership and department managers
Coordinate workforce scheduling and seasonal staffing planning
Assist with workers' compensation documentation and incident reporting
Support licensing, permits, and agritourism compliance documentation
Handle confidential information with discretion
Assist with special projects, events staffing, and peak-season operations

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred
2+ years as an HR Generalist or HR Administrator
Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Proficient with Microsoft Office and HR/payroll/timekeeping systems
Comfortable working on-site in a farm/agritourism environment
Experience with seasonal staffing, hospitality, retail, or tourism operations is an asset
Key Challenges
Handle high-volume seasonal hiring with quick turnaround
Support multiple departments with varying needs
Coach managers on employee relations and documentation
Manage HR processes while staying flexible and hands-on
Maintain professionalism while being approachable and culture-driven

On-site role (office + farm presence)
