Summary The HR/HS Generalist, under the direction of the Site Manager, will primarily be responsible to provide support of our employees and management teams. The HR/HS Generalist will provide guidance and recommendations in the areas of employee relations, health and safety, organizational strategy, compliance, recruitment, benefits, compensation, performance management, training and development. Job Duties
  • Maintain the organization\'s strategic plan and vision
  • Participate in departmental planning activities including employee moral events, employee recognitions and various employee engagements.
  • Provide guidance for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, counseling, training, and development.
  • Report continuous improvement, providing data and/or metrics to support the initiatives
  • Lead all aspects of Employee Relations including employee events, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations; advise on potential liabilities and make recommendations; Resolve conflicts through positive and professional mediation
  • Maintain the performance management process and tools; Evaluate employee performance and provide informal feedback and coaching on an ongoing basis, and formal appraisals as required
  • Conduct and analyze exit interviews; report on themes; recommend changes as required
  • Facilitate employee engagement feedback and make recommendations
  • Maintain employment brand and recruitment process; counsel managers on candidate selection; negotiate and develop employment agreements
  • Follow onboarding program; facilitate orientation and training programs
  • Provide recommendations and support management in regards to Organizational Design, specifically related to structure of roles; job descriptions; Succession planning
  • Establish and promote safe and healthy working conditions; maintain HS Management System; maintain statistical data for reporting requirements
  • Conducts root cause analysis; Recommend methods to reduce or eliminate accidents and hazards, in collaboration with cross functional teams
  • Develop and implement internal training programs
  • WSIB and disability claim management, administer the Early and Safe Return to Work program
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and (implementing if necessary) applicable federal and provincial regulations; maintain all required records
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records that are in compliance with legislative requirements; Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of records
  • Implement and maintain policies, standards, and procedures; create any work instructions; ensure policy awareness
  • Provide leadership on the administration of employee benefits, payroll, and RRSP programs; inform and advise employees
  • Enforce current compensation program; conduct periodic benchmarking to ensure market competitiveness and internal equity; recommend, plan, and implement pay structure revisions; schedule and monitor pay actions
  • Process bi-weekly payroll; attendance tracking; manage absenteeism
  • Research, create applications, and manage government incentive/funding programs
  • Systems administration (i.e. ISOVision, Desjardins, ADP WorkforceNow)
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional associations
  • Establish and maintain relationships with strategic business partners and key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with various departments and provide support as required
  • General office administration duties - filing, using computer programs, etc.
  • Adhere to all internal policies and procedures, applicable legislation and regulations
Job Requirements
  • University degree or 3-year College Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Working towards CHRP designation preferred
  • 2 years experience in HR and HS, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, including Employment Standards Act, OHSA, and WSIA
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on mentoring and motivation of employees
  • Experience working with payroll
  • Conviction to improve personally and support continuous improvement in the department and company as a whole
  • Ability to identify measures of performance and actions needed to improve or correct performance
  • Ability to actively listen in order to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems
  • Passionate, high energy, self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Effective planning and organizational skills with the ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to finish multiple, overlapping projects on time and scale
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with ERP systems
  • Eligibility for security clearance including a clean criminal record check
Work Conditions

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Salary: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year Benefits:
