Job Description

Community Living Algoma is currently searching for a dynamic candidate who has a passion for giving back to their community and the interest to advance their career in Human Resources. We are seeking an innovative, highly motivated and detail-oriented professional who is able to effectively prioritize workflow, operate with a high level of integrity and is adaptable and responsive to change. The Human Resources Coordinator will report to the Manager of Human Resources and will assist in the administration coordination and implementation of HR and provide administrative support.

Essential Functions

Ability to problem solve, maintain a strict sense of confidentiality, promote positive employer/employee relations, promote a safe, healthy, respectful workplace, be self-directed, able to work independently with minimal supervision and under pressure of deadlines. Ensure pertinent legislative standards/regulations, association/ministry policy and guidelines, collective agreement and a person's rights/needs are observed, adhered to and updated as required.

WSIB



Communicate with adjudicators. Submit WSIB reports and claims. Track incident reports and provide analysis and recommendations to the Joint Health and Safety Committee.

Health and Safety



Ensure proactive and preventative measures, programs and policies are in place for the health and safety of all employees and consumers. Chairs the Joint Heath and Safety Committee and the Return to Work Committee to ensure legislative compliance for the overall heal safety and well-being of employees Monitors organizational compliance with OHSA and WHMIS legislated requirements.

Human Resources Management System



Prepare and maintain employment records using human resources management system software. Maintain accurate employee data records. Utilize HRIS data and statistical reports to monitor trends in recruitment, promotions and terminations. Compile reports such as attendance tracking, turnover rates, disciplinary actions, and overtime for tracking purposes.

Recruitment



Assist in evaluating and selecting qualified candidates for interviews, onboarding employees. Adhere to collective agreement language for internal recruitment.

Administrative



Administrative tasks and support as required.

Qualifications

Degree/Diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Administration; CHRP/CHRL designation or working towards is considered an asset. Minimum of two years job related experience in an HR Administrative role in a unionized environment, including knowledge of current and relevant legislation i.e., Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, as well as knowledge of Collective agreement provisions. Ability to work in a highly professional, multi-disciplinary team environment. A valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle. Excellent computer knowledge in computer programs including, but not limited to Windows and Microsoft Office and Outlook applications, spreadsheets and data base management. Abilities to speak, read and write in both English and French would be an asset. Other combinations of education training and experience which provide the knowledge and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
