The Lax Kw'alaams Human Resources Department has an exciting and immediate opening for a full-time Human Resources Coordinator. The HR Coordinator provides confidential administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department across a range of functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training coordination, and policy implementation. This position works closely with HR leadership and plays a key role in maintaining accurate employee records, supporting organizational compliance, and assisting with internal processes related to labour relations and personnel matters.

Responsibilities:



Recruitment Support - assist with posting jobs, scheduling interviews, preparing offer letters, and
communicating with candidates throughout the hiring process.
Administrative Assistance - provide general HR administrative support, including data entry, filing, scheduling, and responding to routine employee inquiries.
Employee Records - maintain and organize and securely maintain sensitive employee documents, including those related to hiring, discipline, compensation, and leaves of absence, in both physical and digital formats.
Confidentiality - this position requires regular access to confidential employee records and hiring-related
information. Due to the sensitive nature of this work and its support of management-level HR functions, this is a confidential position and is excluded from union representation.
Other Duties - the employee agrees to perform other duties as assigned by the employer that are reasonably related to the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:



Education



Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A diploma or degree in Human Resources Management is preferred.

Experience



Minimum 2-3 years of experience in human resources support or administrative role. Experience in recruitment, onboarding, records management, and general HR administration required. Familiarity with employment standards, privacy legislation, and HR best practices. Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a confidential and fast paced environment.

Interpersonal skills - builds positive working relationships, working collaboratively within a team. Problem solving - proactive in identifying issues and offering practical solutions. Adaptability - comfortable managing changing priorities and evolving HR processes. Technical proficiency - competent with HR information systems, MS Office, and other software.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:



Long hours sitting and using office equipment, computers and attending meetings You will have to complete several tasks and responsibilities at one time and must be prepared to deal with emergencies and stressful situations at any time You may have to communicate and deal with staff that may come may be distressed

Classification/Pay Scale



Union exempt position. Benefits and Pension. $50,960 - $61,880 per year.
