The Newfoundland and Labrador Forestry Industry Assocition represents all employers within the Forestry Sector in Newfoundland and Labrador. Creating a strategic plan, a critical first step in developing a workforce atraction and retention strategy. The Human Resouces Coordinator will play a key role in this.
Function
The main function of this role is to work with employers and candidates to bring attention and attraction to jobs within the forestry industry. This position is a 1 year term with possibility for extension.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the NLFIA representatives, and indirectly to the HR Lead, this position will be responsible to:
- Work with community and educational institutions to understand barriers to entry to work in the NL Forestry Sector
- Work with Employers and service providers to identify mechanisms to help reduce or fully remove those barriers.
- Develop recruitment strategies and materials to help target information to groups historically not reached.
- Research best practices to share with employers within the industry
- Modernize workplace cultures through various means including providing HR focused training to employers and employees.
- Research international recruitment methods to assist in connecting employers and candidates.
- Liaise between service providers and employers to lead the development of required training programs targeted to fill gaps in the workforce.
- Continue to survey the workforce landscape to ensure efforts are targeted at top priorities.
- Meet with stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications
- Post secondary education in Human Resources or related area.
- A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience in training, human resources, or other related field. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered
- Ability to self-direct work and meet deadlines as required.
- Ability to work as part of a team, and lead stakeholder groups to a common goal
- Experience conducting research and presenting solutions is paramount to success in this role.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to visit industry partner locations as needed.
