Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Business HR, the Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) plays a key role in delivering strategic, consultative, and operational HR support across assigned client groups. The HRBP provides advice, guidance, and solutions on a wide range of people matters including employee relations, workforce planning, organizational design, talent management, and change management. In collaboration with HR Communities of Expertise (CoEs), the HRBP ensures that HR programs and initiatives are effectively executed to meet business needs. Here's What's On Your Horizon
Strategic HR Advisory

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with assigned client groups to align HR strategies with business priorities.
  • Provide proactive, tailored advice and solutions to leaders on performance management, employee relations, and conflict resolution.
  • Recommend best practices to promote positive employee engagement, morale, and organizational culture.
  • Collaborate with HR CoEs and HR Operations to deliver cyclical HR programs (e.g., performance management, career development, succession planning, and compensation equity).
  • Act as a front-line partner supporting executive recruitment efforts.
Organizational Design, Job Design & Workforce Planning
  • Participate in strategic and workforce planning discussions, identifying opportunities for organizational improvement and optimization.
  • Provide expertise on organizational design and facilitate effective change processes.
  • Analyze workforce data and trends to anticipate future needs and develop HR plans that align with Seneca's long-term strategy.
  • Support leaders in job design, workforce forecasting, and compliance with relevant policies and legislation.
HR Program Implementation & Solutions
  • Collaborate across HR and business functions to deliver high-quality, value-added HR solutions.
  • Partner with CoEs to design and implement HR programs and initiatives that reflect employee feedback and business needs.
  • Lead and support HR-related projects, ensuring on-time and successful execution.
Research, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Conduct research and analyze HR data to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Prepare confidential reports, briefings, and recommendations for senior HR leadership.
Other Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Seneca's HR strategy and institutional goals.
What You Bring to Seneca
Education
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in Human Resources, Organizational Design, or related area.
  • Demonstrated experience providing HR advisory services in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Proven experience working in a unionized environment, including interpreting collective agreements and supporting leaders through sensitive employee relations issues such as investigations, layoffs, and terminations.
Skills & Attributes
  • Proven ability to build trusted partnerships and influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of the Employment Standards Act (ESA) and related employment legislation, with the ability to apply this knowledge in day-to-day HR advisory and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Ability to quickly build trust and rapport across all levels of the organization, fostering a sense of psychological safety and collaboration.
  • Experience leading or supporting change management and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Commitment to promoting Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) principles in all areas of work.
