What you will do:





Reporting to the Manager, Employee Relations and Talent Acquisition, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:


Supporting the City's end-to-end recruitment strategy, ensuring talent initiatives are aligned with business goals. Embedding the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all processes and service delivery within area of responsibility. Establishing and maintaining positive and respectful working relationships with internal partners at all levels of the organization and with external partners. Providing Human Resources counselling, coaching and direct support to leaders and other staff where applicable, in workforce planning and the full-cycle recruitment process. Participating in the development and implementation of employer branding initiatives and candidate experience enhancements. Providing support and guidance to leaders and other staff in the interpretation and administration of relevant corporate policies, procedures and collective agreements, ensuring consistency and compliance with applicable legislation and regulations. Building and establishing positive working relationships with union representatives and collaborating with City leaders to foster positive labour relations. Participating in the development and delivery of Corporate training related to recruitment. Supporting onboarding, ensuring early and effective engagement of new hires. Participating in the identification, development and review of human resources processes, policies and procedures, including employee and leadership resources/tool kits. Participating on Corporate project teams and committees, as required. Leading team initiatives and independent projects, as required. Other duties as required.

What you will bring:




Post-secondary degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or other related field with a post-graduate certificate in Human Resources Management and a minimum 5 years' talent acquisition experience; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered Certified Human Resources Professional or Certified Human Resources Leader designation is considered an asset Experience with full-cycle recruitment processes in a unionized environment Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS); familiarity with Talent Pool Builder is considered an asset A passion for promoting and maintaining a healthy and safe workplace and the ability to work respectfully and effectively in a team environment Strong commitment to delivering quality customer service and building effective relationships Demonstrated commitment to Reconciliation, Equity, Accessibility, Diversity and Inclusion with preference for previous training/experience enhancing HR programs to remove barriers and promote belonging Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to interpret relevant legislation including but not limited to the Employment Standards Act (ESA), Labour Relations Act (LRA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) Ability to exercise sound judgment, tact, and compassion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters Ability to conduct research, analyze data and use critical thinking skills to identify possible solutions to specific issues and/or to support continuous improvement in HR processes, policies, and service delivery Sound written, communication, and presentation skills

A Police Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check satisfactory to the City Proof of your current and valid certificate(s), licenses and/or educational qualifications, if applicable

Work Location:

The successful incumbent may be eligible to apply for a hybrid working arrangement subject to Manager and Director approval, in accordance with the City's Remote Working Procedure.
