Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) - Operations

to join its team located in Montreal. In this highly operational role, the HRBP will work directly with Operations leadership and frontline teams, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring HR strategies are aligned with business needs. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, is comfortable working in remote/field settings, and has strong experience navigating the unique challenges of the mining industry. This role also requires strong operational HR knowledge, and the ability to work fluently in both English and French. Reporting to the Human Resources Director (HRD), this role will serve as the primary HR point of contact for the Operations team. The role will evolve with the project's advancement into operations.

What You'll Do:



Act as a strategic business partner to Operations leadership, contributing to both tactical and strategic discussions that shape workforce decisions and operational priorities. Participate in regular operational and strategic meetings to stay closely aligned with business challenges, priorities, and evolving workforce needs. Develop a deep understanding of the business context, including construction and production goals, operational constraints, and organizational dynamics, to ensure HR initiatives are relevant and impactful. Support talent acquisition efforts, particularly for operational and technical roles, in collaboration with the recruitment team. Lead employee relations initiatives, providing coaching and guidance to managers on performance management, conflict resolution, and compliance. Implement and manage HR programs that enhance employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture. Ensure compliance with labor laws, collective agreements (if applicable), health & safety standards, and company policies. Analyze HR metrics (turnover, absenteeism, workforce demographics, training hours) to identify trends and recommend solutions. Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within operations teams. Act as a change agent, supporting the rollout of new HR policies, programs, and systems in the field. Provide support for HR matters related to contractors and unions during construction.

What We're Looking For:



Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or related field (Master's an asset). 8+ years of HR experience, with at least 2+ years in a business partner or site HR role, ideally in the mining, natural resources, or heavy industrial sector. Strong knowledge of employment standards, labor relations, and HR best practices in Canada. Proven ability to build relationships and influence across all levels of an organization. Experience supporting remote/field operations and rotational workforces (an asset). Bilingualism (English/French) is required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and facilitation skills. Hands-on and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a startup/scale-up environment.
