: Human Resources Assistant Term until December 31, 2025 or return of the incumbent whichever comes first.

SALARY RANGE

: $61,475 - $76,844



POSITION SUMMARY

:


The Human Resources Assistant is directly responsible to the Human Resources Director and provides a full range of confidential and professional human resources support to the human resources leadership team as well as all employees in the district.


The HR Assistant will embrace a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion, continuous learning, build relationships and focus on various administrative human resources functions, programs and projects in labour and employee relations, workforce planning, learning and development, total rewards and other HR related programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSI

BILITIES

Assist the Human Resources team with the day-to-day tasks and responsibilities of a unionized workplace; Organizes and participates in the recruitment process (interviews, references, criminal record checks) Coordinates on-boarding, orientations and training for new hires. Coordinates employee recognition, retirement and service awards. Coordinates professional development training for employees Assists with the implementation and/or maintenance of a variety of projects related to the automation of human resource functions such as EDAS, SDS, and Attendance Management initiatives, and recruitments; Provides support to employee wellness; Assists with the administration of employment contracts for support staff, facilities staff, and other staff as directed; Coordinates and support investigations as required; Coordinates and supports the Job Evaluation processes; Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:




The successful candidate shall have the following qualifications and attributes:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Holds a CPHR designation or working towards designation. Exceptional oral and written communication. Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service skills and professionalism. Ability to be thorough, accurate and exercise high level of attention to detail. Ability to effectively use Microsoft Applications (Office 365, Word, Excel) at an intermediate level. Ability to balance multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality and sound judgement. Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment. Ability to deal with people in a courteous, calm and effective manner. Ability to analyze problems, identify key information and issues, and effectively resolve them. Ability to handle a high volume of work exercising strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent organizational and planning skills, including the ability to plan and follow-up on projects; Ability to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision; Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Ability to use sound judgment and tact in exercising independent action; Proven ability to make reasoned decisions, and to recognize sensitive situations and the impact of potential solutions.
