The Human Resources Advisor (Maternity Leave Replacement) is a hands-on, operational role responsible for delivering consistent, timely, and compliant HR services to employees and managers across the organization. The role focuses on the day-to-day execution of HR processes, employee relations support, and administration of policies, programs, and leave management. The successful candidate ensures continuity of HR operations, accurate application of policies, and reliable service delivery, contributing to a work environment built on trust, collaboration, and clear expectations.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
Employee Relations & HR Operations

  • Act as a primary point of contact for employees and managers on day-to-day HR matters, including policies, employee relations, performance management processes, and workplace conduct, ensuring a respectful, professional, and people-centered employee experience that reflects Laurentide's culture and values.
  • Handle routine employee relations cases, including conflict resolution support, corrective actions, and documentation, applying policies fairly and consistently while balancing employee needs and operational requirements.
  • Support managers with performance management processes, including coaching documentation, progressive discipline steps, and termination coordination, reinforcing accountability, role clarity, and expected standards of behavior.
  • Coordinate accommodation requests and return-to-work processes following a leave of absence (e.g., maternity, parental, disability) in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, supporting safe, structured, and well-communicated reintegration.
Policy Administration & Compliance
  • Apply and administer HR policies and procedures consistently across the organization, ensuring clarity, equity, and operational reliability.
  • Ensure HR practices align with applicable employment legislation and internal standards, supporting a strong foundation of compliance and risk awareness.
  • Support the maintenance and periodic update of HR policies, procedures, and operational tools, with a focus on usability, clarity, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date employee records in HR systems.
Compensation, Benefits & Leave Operations
  • Administer benefits, leaves of absence, and time-off programs, including maternity, parental, disability, and other statutory or company leaves, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and timely follow-up.
  • Lead relationships with benefits providers and external partners, manage benefits programs and service standards, and collaborate with payroll on pay-related administration to resolve inquiries and ensure dependable, high-quality service delivery.
HR Projects & Process Improvement
  • Support the execution of HR programs and initiatives such as employee engagement, DEIB, health and wellness, policy rollouts, and HR system updates, ensuring consistent adoption across teams.
  • Identify and document opportunities to improve HR workflows, templates, and service delivery, contributing to standardized, efficient, and well-documented HR operations.
  • Support change initiatives by preparing clear, practical communications and guidance for employees and managers that reinforce Talent & Culture's role as a trusted, people-centered partner and brand ambassador within the organization.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in an operational HR generalist or HR Advisor role.
  • Working knowledge of provincial and federal employment standards and labour legislation, as applicable.
  • Experience independently managing routine employee relations and leave administration, with exposure to more complex cases under the guidance of a senior HR leader.
  • Professional HR designation (CHRP/CRHA) is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in French and English, with the ability to build trust and provide clear, practical guidance to employees and managers.
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail, supporting reliable and consistent HR service delivery.
  • Ability to manage multiple operational priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Sound judgment and a service-oriented mindset, with respect for established processes and escalation frameworks.
  • Ability to represent Talent & Culture with professionalism and credibility, reinforcing Laurentide's culture of brand ambassadorship in daily interactions.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office applications.
