Position Overview:



We are seeking a dedicated Part-Time Human Resources Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing essential HR functions, including employee contracts, supporting HR training initiatives, consulting with the CEO on HR-related decisions, and assisting supervisors with onboarding and training processes. This position is part-time, accounting for 0.2 Full-Time Equivalent (7.5 hours per week), and is offered as a 1-year contract.

This role is remote but requires set availability hours to support staff in real-time. The HR Specialist will be expected to be responsive to emails, available for scheduled calls, and collaborate on projects during designated hours, ensuring timely support for the team. While external tasks may be completed flexibly outside of these hours, priority must be given to PHAS needs during the agreed-upon schedule. Only infrequent in-person support will be required for in person trainings or termination support along with the CEO.

Key Responsibilities:



Employee Contracts: Prepare, review, and manage employment contracts, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and relevant labor laws. (26 staff total with minimal turnover annually) HR Training Support: Assist in the development and coordination of HR training programs to enhance staff skills and organizational effectiveness. Manage and plan onboarding documents for new hires. Consultation with CEO: Provide expert HR advice to the CEO on personnel matters, policy development, and strategic HR planning. Onboarding and Training Support: Collaborate with supervisors to facilitate effective onboarding processes for new hires, including orientation and initial training. Including annual review support with the CEO. Policy Implementation: Ensure HR policies are consistently applied and adhered to across the organization. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in accordance with legal requirements and best practices with the support of the Office Manager. Time Sheet and Scheduling Review: Support the Assistant Director quarterly by reviewing timesheets to ensure they are aligned with the schedule to ensure we are keeping staffing ratios levels consistent. Hiring more staff if needed or suggesting strategies to maintain consistency among part-time staff hours and scheduling.

Qualifications:



Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of HR experience, preferably in a non-profit or childcare setting. Knowledge: Familiarity with Alberta labor laws and regulations. Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite. Attributes: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, strong organizational skills, and a collaborative mindset.

Working Conditions:



This position offers flexibility, with the possibility of remote work and occasional on-site meetings as required. Working hours are approximately 8 hours per week, to be scheduled in consultation with the CEO and need to be predictable and consistent.
