Job Description




Reporting to the Area Manager and the Director of HSE, the HSE Manager supports the internal HSE program administration and the facilitation of the overall compliance to the Corporate Safety Management System.

You will be responsible for assisting with improving the overall effectiveness of the business unit\xe2\x80\x99s HSE program. This role provides support in maintaining manuals, correspondence, client correspondence, and internal and external reports.

This is a permanent position based out of our Sherwood Park Shop.

What would you be doing?

  • Guide leaders, managers, subcontractors, and internal and external parties to find, identify and address safety issues. Develops coaching approaches and training plans aligned to a safety culture where everyone works safely.
  • Produce, maintain and update internal and external health and safety records and reports/compliance tracker.
  • Work with District Managers to ensure compliance with the Company\xe2\x80\x99s HSE program.
  • Ensure consistent application of A & D requirements.
  • Maintain filing system and Environmental Safety and Driver Orientations/Checklists.
  • Attend corporate safety team huddles, monthly safety meetings, and any other meeting Project or District Managers need.
  • Tracking and reporting on monthly safety statistics and KPIs.
  • Auditing Field operations to ensure compliance with internal and external policies.
  • Creating and leading the implementation of safety deliverables such as; the Environmental Safe Driving Framework, Short Service Worker Program and Competency Program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Does this sound like you?
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with WCB practices/processes.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated computer competency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
  • Knowledge of the Incident Management processes, including incident reporting, corrective action, investigation and analysis, and incident closure.
  • Ability to multi-task and deal with changing priorities.
  • Ability to liaise with all levels of the organization.
  • 10 years of Occupational Health and Safety experience in Safety Leadership.
  • Professional certification as CSP, CRSP, or Occupational Health and Safety certificate is preferred.
  • ACSA COR Auditor preferred.
  • \xe2\x80\x8bKnowledge of Employment Standards in Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan, as well as OH&S Acts, Regulations, Codes, Occupational Health & Safety and Environment legislation.
