Hatch and Bantrel have formed the Hatch Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV) to execute engineering and construction on the BHP Jansen Potash Mine Project in Saskatchewan. After successfully completing the Definition Phase Study for the project, the HBJV is currently carrying out the Detailed Engineering Phase for the Processing, Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) and Mining Areas of the 4.5 Mtpa Stage 1 Potash Mine. With a published TIC of US $5.3-5.7 Billion this will represent one of the largest projects and private investments in Canada. The HBJV will use a hybrid of best-in-class new developing technologies and systems as well as the proven HBJV suite of tools to execute this exciting project.

The HSE Instructors responsibilities Include all aspects of instruction and the learning experience of the students. The instructor may also function concurrently as the program administrator. Instructors are required to engage in activities, which demonstrate a pattern of academic, professionalism. Will make recommendations for the department enhancements, they are expected to be the embodiment of a company\'s culture.

  • Please note this position is not eligible for a relocation subsidy or living out allowance. This will be a camp position on a 14 day on 7 days off rotation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons to all students in the class.
  • Teaching according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students
  • Assigning work, correcting, and marking work carried out by students.
  • Recording the completion of training in the electronic data base, Bistrainer and archive of paper copies
  • Providing the option for web-based recertifications for pre-determined topics
  • Be knowledgeable in provincial workplace regulations, BHP and HBJV policies and procedures.
  • Conduct informal workshops on system training when needed.
  • Communicate and co-operating with other staff, including those having supervision over an individual of any learning gaps.
  • Reviewing and evaluating one\'s own teaching and learning strategies, methodologies, and programs.
  • Advising and co-operating with other instructors and the Training Coordinator in the preparation and development of courses, teaching materials and assessments
  • Perform other HSE Training related duties as assigned by the training coordinator.
  • Punctual for classes daily, in an orderly, organized fashion and leading by example,
  • Be courteous to and approachable by students.
  • Follow approved policies and procedures in the conduct of all instructional activities.
  • Use effective motivation to help stimulate a personal desire to learn the subject/skill(s)
  • Constantly strive to improve instruction through:
  • Self-analysis and evaluation
  • Observation and study of new instructional techniques
  • The use of technology where applicable to enhance the learning environment.
  • Re-evaluation and re-definition of instructional objectives
  • Continual revision and updating of course content and materials of instruction.
  • Attendance at the team meetings
  • Completion of the FLEX Field leadership assignments
Qualifications
  • Saskatchewan Potash Underground Training Experience
  • 10 years Industrial Construction, with 5 years of basic instructional experience
  • 2 years in a Supervisory role
  • Knowledge of the provincial workplace safety and regulations
  • Training experience with: Working at Heights-Fundamentals of Fall Protection; WHMIS Aerial Equipment; Confined Space etc. (Must always maintain valid and up-to-date certification)
  • Minimum 5-years experience in this position or similar
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with computer and mobile applications
  • Be able to work within a team environment as well as work without supervision.
  • Self-starter that exhibits a high level of initiative and resourcefulness
