Job Title HSE Field Advisor Role Summary We are currently seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor to join our team. This position will be responsible to provide HSE site support to site personnel.   • Develop, monitor, and support all aspects of SunGrid\xe2\x80\x99s Project Health Safety and Management Systems
  • Monitor Yukon Health and Safety laws, requirements/changes and communicate the required changes to the HSE Team
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Health, Safety, Environment programs to meet Yukon\xe2\x80\x99s Certificate of Recognition (COR), as well as mandated customer / project requirements.
  • Assist in the completion of Environmental assessments and permit applications.
  • Assistance with Worker\xe2\x80\x99s Compensation documentation
  • Acts as the first point-of-contact for HSE site matters, such as, training bookings, safety supplies orders.
  • Coordinates health, safety and environmental activities including but not limited to attending JHSC committee meetings.
  • Assist in the development and formatting of HSE related documentation.
  • Research environmental, health and safety matters; provide findings and recommendations.
  • Support SunGrid\xe2\x80\x99s multiple business units by creating, distributing, verifying, and maintaining documentation such as work instructions, checklists, training materials.
  • Assists in the identification and analysis of trends. Communicates observations and provides suggestions for incident reduction measures.
  • Support various aspects of new initiatives rolled out within SunGrid\xe2\x80\x99s HSMS to meet company objectives.
  • Assist in the development of project safety plans, policies, job safety analysis, safe work practices, risk assessments, incident investigations.
  • Ability to learn and work in a constantly changing work environment.
  • Assist with the development and preparation of safety communications (e.g., bulletins, safety advisory memo)
  • Coordinate HSE training where applicable, including the development of training materials.
  • Participate in Incident Investigation / Root Cause Analysis including reporting and management of all documents.
  • Attending all HSE meetings as stipulated and scheduled with clients / customers, contractors, vendors, and site crews as applicable.
  • Maintain positive and proactive relations with all company and contract personnel, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Schedule and prepare meeting agendas, presentations, and meeting minutes for the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC)
  • Maintain an up-to-date SDS electronic library.
  • Provide support to the Health and Safety Coordinator and the Human Resources department on WCB matters, return-to-work, job accommodation/modification requests, etc.
  • Deliver and maintain safety training programs with up-to-date legislation
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License, mandatory.
  • Resident of the Yukon or willing to relocate temporarily. Flights may be provided based on the candidate\xe2\x80\x99s location.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat are essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the OH&S Act, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate options, solutions, and exercise judgment in making sound decisions.
  • Self-driven, discrete, diligent with great attention to detail

  • Proactively identifies improvement needs and propose innovative solutions for better outcomes.

Education and Experience:
  • Degree, Diploma or Certificate from a post-secondary and accredited institution in environment, health, and safety would be an asset.
