Job Summary

The CBRE Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Compliance Specialist will assist in the management of health, safety and environmental programs relative to a client in the public sector. This position is part of the Health, Safety and Environment function. The HSE Compliance Specialist will be responsible for organizational programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In supporting the health, safety and environmental program, the HSE Compliance Specialist must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Provides support for injury and incident related performance. Supports the development and implementation of preventative measures or strategic solutions to improve performance. Review analytical results, waste manifests, preventive maintenance performance to maintain environmental compliance Assist in conducting investigations into work-related incidents, injuries, near-misses and motor vehicle incidents, and regulatory noncompliance findings to determine root cause and recommend measures to be implemented to prevent recurrence Possess practical and technical expertise to audit specific standards to maintain ISO certifications. Demonstrated knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO45001 is essential to manage compliance audits, drive corrective actions, and continuous improvement Willingness to acquire and/or maintain ISO 45001 & 14001 Lead Auditor status. Willingness to travel (limited) to locations within the province to identify and evaluate potential unsafe conditions and practices in the workplace. Ability to monitor and review multiple federal, provincial, and local safety and environmental regulations to determine applicability, identify potential compliance issues and provide compliance recommendations. Provides technical guidance and interpretation of Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance issues to support operations. Applies situational problem analysis and problem-solving skills on a technical level Ability to effectively communicate with identified stakeholders, including engagement with regulatory authorities. Relationship builder who leads by example, is trusted by others, and models behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values. Ability to understand verbal and written communication and able to respond effectively. Ability to effectively present information internally, externally, or to large groups. No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Other duties may be assigned.


The successful candidate will be required to attain and maintain a valid and active RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance (ERSC). Please note, a condition for attaining an Enhanced Reliability Security (ERS) clearance includes the condition that applicants must have lived in Canada a minimum of five years to apply for ERS.

Education and ExperienceBachelor's Degree preferred with up to 3-5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Working towards one of the following is preferred: Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Environmental Professional (EP), or similar occupational health, safety, or environmental certification. Experience with analyzing information to make judgments to solve standard problems. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, etc. Prior experience in worker training, worksite evaluation, and program audits Organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset. Intermediate math skills. Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial related calculations

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The salary range being offered for the HSE Compliance Specialist position is between $68,000 annually and $75,000 annually. The compensation that is provided to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
