Key Responsibilities:



Provides expert HR/LR advice to employees, supervisors, managers and business partners on labour and employee relations matters such as conflict resolution, collective agreement interpretation, grievance management, corrective action, and other related inquiries. Reporting to the Team Lead Employee Relations, responsible to support and monitor execution of the Company's bargaining and labour relations strategies. Provides guidance and support on matters relating to code of conduct, policy and ethics including investigations, reports, and determines appropriate corrective action. Seeks appropriate legal consultation and alignment from executive. Develops and fosters a relationship of mutual respect with individuals within Hydro. Provides and leads issue analysis reviews, develops and communicates action plans and remains up to date on corporate initiatives as well as general industry trends, labour relations activity, and labour law.



What We're Looking For:



A respectful proactive leader with an ability to work directly with union leadership to build partnerships that encourage a collaborative approach with management teams and union representatives. A multi-tasker that can act independently and work with others in a collaborative work environment; excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent analytical and time-management skills; an ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations and reports to various levels of the organization and external stakeholders. The candidate must be extremely effective in dealing with uncertain situations while demonstrating a high level of integrity, initiative, positive attitude, and mutual respect.



What You'll Need:



Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration degree with specialization in Labour Relations or Human Resources. A Masters in Employee Relations or similar industrial relations certification would be an asset. A Certified Professional Human Resources (CPHR) designation or another relevant HR or LR designation would be an asset. Minimum of 7 years progressive experience in the areas of labour and/or employee relations, 5 of which are in a unionized environment. Must demonstrate ability to coach and advise peers, managers and supervisors on a variety of LR matters. Must have experience with negotiations and working collaboratively across work groups and possess a thorough knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Labour Relations Act, Human Right Act) and experience in collective agreement administration and resolving disputes. Must possess a good working knowledge of computers with appropriate awareness of various corporate applications as necessary. These may include but are not limited to the Microsoft suite of applications (including intermediate to advanced Excel skills), JD Edwards. A combination of comparable education and experience may be considered.



Some travel or flexibility in schedule is occasionally required. Valid driver's license required.
