SENIOR ACCOUNTANT - RE/INSURANCE - BERMUDA - 10% TAX - HR324
About this opportunity
Our client invites applications for the open position of Senior Accountant. As Senior Accountant reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the review and preparation of monthly management accounts, annual operating budgets, annual and quarterly financial statements and researching and reporting on current and new US GAAP pronouncements as they affect the Company. The position will play a key role in the audit process including liaising with the Company's external and internal auditors.
Key responsibilities:

  • Support the monthly close process, including the preparation of reconciliation and review of accounts for all managed companies
  • Preparation of annual and quarterly financial statements (including US GAAP and Bermuda Statutory Financial Statements) as well as periodic management reports
  • Preparation of financial data required for the BSCR, quarterly financial returns, and other regulatory submissions
  • Preparation and analysis of quarterly budgets
  • Direct support of the annual audit plan, including interfacing with the auditors on each phase of the annual plan
  • Direct support of the internal audit process
  • Preparation of support materials necessary for Audit Committee and Board meetings
  • Preparation of the Company's tax and other regulatory filings
  • Assist with the analysis of direct and assumed reinsurance transactions to ensure they are compliant to appropriate US GAAP
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and participate in the implementation of reengineering processes
What you'll need
  • An internationally recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g. US CPA or equivalent) with a minimum of five years' professional accounting experience, preferably in the reinsurance industry
  • Thorough technical knowledge and experience with US GAAP and Bermuda regulatory reporting
  • Experience with MS Office (Excel); experience with Great Plains is desirable but not essential
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime when required to meet deadlines
