About this opportunity

Our client, a Nasdaq listed global (re) insurance group which acquires and manages insurance and reinsurance business in run-off is seeking a Financial Accountant. This role supports the Group Reporting Manager in the production of quarterly financial reporting, maintenance of a strong Internal Control framework, and the preparation of consolidated management reporting information.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparation of key primary statements and disclosure notes for SEC filings in accordance with US GAAP and SEC Regulations such as quarterly 10-Q\'s and annual 10-K\'s, including preparation of all supporting materials
  • Maintenance of Group consolidation system, running monthly consolidations, preparation of all consolidation adjustments for review
  • Preparation of reconciliation controls between source system and general ledger
  • Ensure complete integrity of data across all Group finance systems
  • Review and elimination of intercompany transactions and balances on a monthly basis
  • Provide support to local finance teams to resolve consolidation issues arising from internal transactions
  • Prepare financial analysis as required for Board Reporting
  • Develop repeatable, technology-driven solutions for extracting and summarising the Group\'s general ledger data to respond to ad-hoc reporting requirements
  • Collaboration with local finance teams to collect and consolidate information for group disclosure
  • Liaison with external auditors (provide audit evidence) and Internal Audit (participate in walkthrough testing of SOX processes)
  • Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting: draft new control descriptions, prepare, maintain and update process documentation and group policies, ownership of IPE registers
  • In addition to key responsibilities, undertake other duties from time to time as the company may reasonably require
  • Carry out duties within our internal policies and procedures in accordance with applicable law, rules, regulation, good governance and company\'s shared values, including putting clients at the heart of our business
  • Ability to assist in evolution of company\'s internal control environment to mitigate emerging risks
What you\'ll need
  • An internationally recognized accounting designation e.g. CPA, CA or ACCA
  • Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Accounting, Finance) preferred but not essential
  • Self-motivated, strong sense of urgency, highly organized and able to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced business environment
  • Must show initiative, demonstrate ability to work both independently and as part of team
  • Experience with US GAAP and SEC reporting
  • Exposure to general ledger systems
  • Experience with disclosure software preferred
  • Strong Excel data analysis skills, including data enrichment and summarization
  • At least 1 to 3 years prior experience within a Big Four auditing firm, focusing on SEC registrants, or similar insurance industry experience
  • Ability to identify and implement appropriate reconciliation controls between different sources
  • Ability to summarize complex data quickly for Executive consumption
  • Experience working in, or auditing organizations operating a SOX control environment
  • Must have advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadline
  • Excellent analytical and accounting skills together with advanced Excel skills
  • Self-motivated, strong sense of urgency and initiative
  • The ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner with both senior management and internal and external clients
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of the wider Finance Operations Function
  • Advanced communication skills - Proven ability to write and speak effectively and persuasively
  • Must be proficient in preparing written, technical reports for various purposes
  • Ability to be part of a team and to effectively work with others, internal and external
