About this opportunity

Our client is a Bermuda-headquartered company that underwrites specialty insurance and reinsurance risks on a global basis leveraging analytics and research to create underwriting and investment value for its clients and shareholders.

Based in Bermuda and reporting to the Vice President, Head of Group Reporting, in this newly created role, you will champion aspects of our group accounting and reporting and systems processes, working closely with other teams as a trusted business partner.

What you will do:

  • Ensure management information and financial reporting are complete, accurate and timely
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual nancial statements in accordance with US GAAP
  • Assist with technical accounting research and memo writing
  • Oversee the quarterly management accounts for the group business unit
  • Prepare monthly investment slides and various ad hoc investment projects
  • Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual Bermuda regulatory filings
  • Maintain accounting policies, procedures and ensure financial statements and underwriting-related transactions are prepared in accordance with US GAAP
  • Develop, implement and maintain process documentation and controls over nancial reporting and compliance
  • Work across teams to project manage systems implementations, upgrades and automation initiatives with a focus on the integrity of the financial data, processes and controls
  • Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and drive the execution of team deliverables
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors
What you\'ll need
  • Fully qualified CPA, ACA/CA, ACCA or equivalent designation
  • Demonstrable post-qualification experience (minimum 3 years) gained in a similar role within a re/insurance company or within practice auditing (re)/insurance companies
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and the ability to navigate complex spread sheets
  • Prior experience with SUN GL, Clearwater Analytics, Wdesk or Certent Equity Management systems would be an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven initiative and ability to project manage system implementations and improvements, and to develop automation processes
  • Strong work ethic with superior organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task
