Salary Range:

$60,000-$75,000

Westerkirk Capital Inc. ('WCI'), a private investment company based in Victoria, BC is seeking an HR Specialist. The organization is a single-family office managing assets via internal direct and third-party/external managers across a variety of portfolios and asset classes including fixed income, public equity, private equity, hedge funds, infrastructure, and real estate.

The HR Specialist will support the Human Resources team in delivering key services across recruitment, onboarding, compensation, benefits, performance management, and HR administration. This also includes supporting the implementation and alignment of HR programs across the group of companies. This position works closely with the VP, Head of Talent and various department leaders to ensure an effective and supportive employee experience while promoting a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture. The ideal candidate is organized, people-oriented, and eager to contribute to a dynamic workplace.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Recruitment & Onboarding

Support full-cycle recruitment, including job postings and resume screening. Conduct initial phone screens and coordinate interviews with hiring managers. Assist in preparing offer letters and facilitating the pre-employment process including reference checks and screenings. Help coordinate onboarding activities and orientation for new hires.

HR Operations & Employee Support

Support the development and execution of Human Resources policies and training programs to ensure legislative compliance and alignment across the group of companies. Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS. Act as a first point of contact for general employee inquiries related to policies, benefits, and procedures, maintaining confidentiality when required. Coordinate employee benefits with the payroll department and benefits provider. Conduct exit interviews and provide insights on trends and potential improvements. Coordinate performance management and formal feedback processes.

HR Programs & Projects

Develop and execute various HR analytical reports with the objective of reviewing key metrics and assisting HR and Business leaders in making strategic HR decisions. Support the review and continuous improvement of HR programs including, but not limited to: recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, performance management and succession planning, to ensure alignment across the group of companies where needed. Help plan and execute employee engagement initiatives and office events. Support a positive workplace culture focused on quality, improvement, employee growth, and strong performance, while promoting collaboration and respect.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:



5+ years of hands-on HR experience in a variety of organizations. Diploma or degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field; CPHR designation (or working toward it) is a plus. Well-rounded HR background, including employee relations, recruiting, training, performance management, succession planning, and compliance. Strong understanding of Provincial and Canadian employment laws, ideally across multiple provinces. Solid HR, operational, and strategic thinking skills, with good business and financial understanding. Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills. Professional, approachable, and committed to providing excellent internal service. * Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams); experience with HRIS systems.
