Our firm values work/life balance and puts an emphasis on developing our people.The HR Manager, reporting to the Director of Human Resources, will support the firm to develop and implement a Talent strategy that is aligned to deliver on the firmxe2x80x99s business goals.An infectiously positive HR leader, you will make the organization stronger by strengthening our human capital, optimizing our HR infrastructures, and putting the systems in place to ensure our staff are engaged, motivated and best positioned to help the organization achieve our objectives.Your primary responsibilities will include:The HR Manager will enable talent (primarily a professional CPA team) within Baker Tilly Ottawa LLP and Baker Tilly Gatineau Inc.

  • Coordinates and oversees onboarding process to ensure that we provide an exceptional experience for newly hired employees and provide critical support to internal stakeholders in the onboarding process.
  • Administer all aspects of all leaves including interpretation of the firmxe2x80x99s policies and calculations of respective entitlements.
  • Work collaboratively with our finance team to provide payroll and benefit related information.
  • Monitors employee productivity through preparation, review and analysis of weekly and monthly reports.
  • Continually develop framework and oversee employee performance management process from goal setting to evaluation and ensuring that these align with organizational objectives. This includes working closely with Managers to identify performance gaps and developing effective solutions.
  • Coordinates and oversees the offboarding process for staff departures including students returning to school. This could include attending firm termination meetings.
  • Functions as Program Manager in the CPA Professional Education Program for our three pre-approved programs.
  • Meets with employees on request or as needed to address day-to-day personnel matters.
  • Solicits, analyzes and interprets employee feedback results for the firm. Develops and implements related action plans and communications.
  • Assists in the design and execution of talent training sessions.
  • Regularly monitors the effectiveness of HR programs, processes and services, and raises concerns, and provides feedback to the COO and Managing Partner to drive continuous improvement based on business needs, including participation in annual compensation surveys.
  • Advisor to the COO and/or Managing Partner on talent related matters.
  • Recruits strong talent in conjunction with our core recruiting team with a collaborative approach to support the business needs of the firm.
  • Collaborating with the COO to plan growth and talent capacity requirements, as well as to implement strategies and plans aligned with business needs.
  • Supports change management across the firm.
  • Supports leaders in creating a diverse and inclusive work environment. Identifies opportunities to embed accessibility, diversity and inclusion in local processes and programs.
  • Provides guidance and hands on support to the teams in implementing HR programs and processes (e.g. compensation planning, ratings and promotions, employee surveys).
  • Maintains HR systems and team documentation as required.
  • Participates as Trusted Advisor in maintaining ESA standards.
  • Actively participates in and leads employee engagement events and activities.
  • Shares information about key learnings, successes, challenges, and best practices across the firm and within the BT HR Network.
  • Participates in National HR project teams.
  • Collaborates with COO to implement and monitor the effectiveness of BT national strategic People Solutions initiatives.
  • Discerns insights and trends from information and data and leverages them to identify opportunities for change that will deliver value and impact to the business.
  • Develops, monitors and ensures HR policies, processes and standards are followed.
  • Manages the Health & Safety programs of the firm, including delivery of required training.
  • Other duties as required.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree in HR or a Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree in a related field and post-secondary diploma or certificate in HR.
  • A CHRP or CHRL designation.
  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources in a fast-paced, corporate environment.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities for multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with internal clients, gain credibility, challenge the norm and be viewed as a trusted advisor.
  • Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills with the ability to work in a changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Self-starter who identifies problems and suggested solutions naturally.
  • Highly Proficient with PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Experience working with the BambooHR platform would be an asset.
