AM- 18220Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with Westwood Group, to recruit a Human Resources Manager to join their growing team in Halifax, Nova Scotia.Our client is a multi-faceted organization involved in commercial and residential land development, acquisitions, construction, and property management. Over the past 30 years, Westwood has developed more than a thousand residential units, and they continue to lead some of the most high-profile developments in Halifax like The Mills and Richmond Yards, actively shaping the future landscape of a growing city within the beautiful province of Nova Scotia.Role Description
The Human Resources Manager will become a highly valued team member, supporting the Leadership Team, and all Westwood employees, as the subject matter expert on any HR-related topics. Overseeing the entire HR function for the organization, you will have the opportunity to pioneer and improve various HR processes in areas such as recruitment, training and development, employee engagement, and performance management, while also supporting the day-to-day operations of the business.   • Process multiple payrolls, ensuring that employees are paid on an accurate and timely basis;
  • Drive and encourage training and development across the organization, identifying relevant training topics, and tracking completed courses/programs;
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for vacant positions, including creating/posting job descriptions, screening/interviewing qualified candidates, and preparing letters of employment;
  • Support the onboarding process, working closely with hiring managers, and acting as the first point of contact for new employees;
  • Administer and manage the Group Benefits Plan, adding new employees, and processing monthly benefit invoices;
  • Develop processes and procedures related to HR & our head office and create related HR policies;
  • Coach and advise managers/supervisors on how to navigate employee-related issues;
  • Support the performance management process, ensuring that yearly performance reviews are completed appropriately;
  • Manage employee terminations as necessary, conducting exit interviews and supporting a smooth offboarding process;
  • Manage sensitive and confidential employee information, protecting the security of said information.
Your Qualifications
As the ideal candidate, you are an energetic self-starter who is eager to make an impact on a proud local organization. You are well-organized, confident, and able to work in a demanding and fast-paced environment. Lastly, you resonate with Westwood Group\'s values that have allowed them to be regarded as one of Halifax\'s most prestigious residential developers for many years.Qualifications include:
  • Post-secondary education, preferably with a concentration in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related discipline with relevant experience will also be considered;
  • CPHR designation would be considered a strong asset;
  • 7+ years\' experience in Human Resources, ideally in a Generalist capacity;
  • Strong knowledge of current employee/labour rights, laws, legislation and regulations;
  • Excellent attention to detail, coupled with the ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills;
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision, and closely with a team;
  • Strong computer skills, with advanced literacy in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Experience using ADP system to process payroll, or a comparable system, would be considered a strong asset;
  • Experience administering a Group Benefits Plan would be considered an asset.
