The Human Resources Manager is a key member of the Executive Team and Northreach Society in recruiting, hiring and supporting the management and staff who serve in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The Human Resource Manager is crucial to the success of Northreach. The people who work for Northreach are the agency's most important asset and this role contributes to a happy and productive workplace where everyone realizes the established mission and objectives of the agency. The Human Resources Manager will keep a pulse on employee relations, ensure practices comply with regulations, and administer services including onboarding, benefits, time-off, and training. The Human Resources Manager is the go-to person for all employee-related issues.
Duties and responsibilities:
Determine staffing requirements and oversee the hiring of staff.
Oversee the orientation/onboarding of new hires and the training of employees.
Oversee personnel management, including wage increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions in compliance with Northreach policies.
Identify current and prospective staffing requirements, prepare and post notices, collect and screen applications.
Develop key policies and implement as necessary.
Provide leadership and coaching to employees on key workplace matters such as performance management, difficult conversations, employee relations, and employee development.
Oversee equipment purchasing and setup as required for new employees.
Assist employees with IT and equipment needs and oversee agency IT requirements by liaising with internal and external assistance as required.
Answer staff inquiries regarding wages, deductions, attendance, and timesheets.
Approve vacation and allowable days requests and monitor vacation schedules.
Determine areas of improvement for employees.
Administer progressive disciplinary action in accordance with established procedures.
Ensures that all applicable compliance requirements are met.
Develop strategic performance metrics and targets that are consistent with Northreach goals.
In cooperation with Northreach Leadership, ensure employees have clear goals and are aware of expectations.
Ensure that all employees comply with Northreach policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Assists with Occupational Health and Safety planning and ensure that employees adhere to all health and safety regulations.
Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback, coaching, and formal evaluations.
Handle employee complaints and incidents, including conflict resolution, accidents, health and safety concerns, work refusals, and investigation.
Participate in workplace inspections and hazard assessments.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
University/College degree in administration, human resources or other related program
And/or a balanced combination of educational, life and work experience related to the job description.
CPHR designation or working towards an asset.
RPR designation an asset.

Working conditions:
Working for Northreach Society requires employees to be physically mobile. Candidate must be able to lift and carry objects, be on foot and/or walk for extended periods of time, as well spend significant periods of time performing administrative and other desk duties.? Due to the nature of living and working in the North, it is also important that the candidate be able to drive a vehicle in all types of weather conditions.
