Role Overview
La Vie is seeking a hands-on
HR & Internal Controls Specialist
to support the development of a formal organizational structure, strengthen internal processes, and drive compliance with regulatory and operational standards. This role will oversee key HR functions while also establishing and monitoring internal controls to reduce operational risks.
This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about building structure in a growing healthcare environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Human Resources
Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes
Maintain employee records and ensure PHIPA-compliant confidentiality
Implement and manage performance documentation and training logs
Administer HR lifecycle activities (salary changes, contract renewals, vacation/sick tracking, etc.)
Support workforce planning aligned with organizational structure
Internal Controls & Compliance
Document and validate tasks and responsibilities across departments
Support development of standardized processes and SOPs
Ensure proper segregation of duties for financial and operational tasks
Implement approval workflows and reporting lines where needed
Conduct internal control testing and follow-up on corrective actions
Maintain risk and incident logs and support PHIPA compliance reporting
Organizational Development
Assist in building role profiles and a structured organizational chart
Support change management as processes evolve
Coordinate cross-departmental communication regarding policy updates
Qualifications
3+ years experience in HR, compliance, internal controls, or related field
Experience in healthcare or regulatory environments preferred
Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment standards, and privacy regulations
Excellent documentation, organization, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with integrity
Hands-on execution mindset -- comfortable rolling up sleeves and driving progress
