The HR Generalist is a part-time (30 hours/week) position and is responsible for HRIS data management, payroll processing, benefits and pension administration, basic people analytics and reporting, HR administrative support, and recruitment and onboarding coordination for staff employed by Mennonite Central Committee Saskatchewan (MCCS). The HR Generalist supports a variety of HR activities and processes, providing high-quality service to MCCS staff. This position is supervised by the HR & Operations Director.
This position is based at the MCC Saskatchewan office, with some remote work optional, dependent on the office schedule.

Educational background in Human Resources Management, Office Administration or commensurate work related experience (3+ years).
1-2 years of payroll experience including payworks payroll processing.
Strong knowledge of Saskatchewan employment act, including the payroll legislation.
Experience with benefits administration and pension/retirement plans.
Experience maintaining HRIS systems and HR data accuracy.
Strong skills in HR reporting, basic dashboards, and data extraction (MS Excel, HRIS tools, Microsoft 365).
Strong organization, accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) Certification (in progress, or a willingness to acquire the certification) required.

Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Information System (HRIS & Data Management) Maintain the MCCS employee database and generate functional reports to assist the MCCS Human Resources Director.
Maintain accurate HRIS records including employee information, job changes, leaves and documentation.
Responsible for employee onboarding related data and ensuring accurate reporting in the HRIS.
Manage overtime and leave process for staff, tracking all leave requests/balances and overtime accruals and balances.
Assist the HR Director in providing training to supervisors and team members as it relates to HRIS.
Maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
Maintain training records.
Payroll Administration
Process end-to-end biweekly payroll using Payworks, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Enter, audit, and maintain payroll records including earnings, deductions, leaves, overtime, and adjustments.
Ensure compliance with Saskatchewan employment standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
Respond to staff payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Recruitment & HR Administration Support recruitment by posting roles, screening applications, scheduling interviews and preparing documentation.
Maintain all pertinent applicant, candidate and interview data in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
Assist with onboarding, background checks, and orientation logistics.
Support HR documentation, handbook updates, and policy communication.
Stay current on MCCS's personnel policy, and federal and provincial laws regarding employment practices.
Avoid legal challenges by understanding current legislation; enforcing regulations with managers; recommending new procedures; conducting training.
Provide positive and professional service to hiring managers and candidates at every step of the recruitment process.
Benefit & Pension Administration Manage employee benefits enrollment, changes and terminations.
Coordinate group retirement plan administration and documentation.
Liaise with benefit providers to resolve discrepancies and employee inquiries.
Maintain accurate benefit and pension data across systems.
Administration Manage new employee onboarding including orientation and background checks.
Assist with reports and data analytics as requested.
Assist with maintaining employee handbook and circulate updates as required.
General Participate in regular staff meetings, spending time in devotions and prayer with all in attendance.
Model non-violent peacemaking through daily interactions with staff and the public.
Participate in a local church and gatherings, being willing to use gifts within the local faith community.
Participate as a staff member of MCCS in the Canadian Human Resources Network and the joint Global HR Network.
