The Opportunity
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the
Human Resources Generalist
will play a key role in supporting both employees and leadership across all HR functions. This position involves full-cycle recruitment, labour relations, training, accommodation, employee engagement initiatives, and performance management. The ideal candidate will bring integrity, strong interpersonal skills, and a service-oriented approach to fostering a positive and productive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
Provide guidance to Supervisors on employee relations matters, including attendance, misconduct, collective agreement interpretation, and policy application.
Conduct and document workplace investigations regarding performance, misconduct, and/or harassment, and provide recommendations.
Performing full-cycle recruitment for salaried and hourly positions, including onboarding and orientation.
Coordinate employee training, certification requirements, and workshops.
Deliver training sessions for both hourly employees and management.
Manage absenteeism reporting and case management for WSIB and STD/LTD claims.
Oversee accommodation and return-to-work processes in compliance with legislation.
Develop, organize, and implement employee engagement and community initiatives.
Analyze HR processes and recommend improvements.
Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Promote and model a safe, positive, and inclusive workplace culture.
Qualifications & Experience
Post-secondary education in Human Resources; CHRP designation (or actively pursuing) preferred.
Minimum 5 years of HR experience in a unionized environment; manufacturing experience is an asset.
At least 5 years of experience in labour relations investigations
Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting full-cycle hourly and salaried recruitment
3+ years of experience managing WSIB and STD/LTD claims.
Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation (ESA, Human Rights Code, OHSA).
Experience leading employee engagement initiatives.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ADP and Synerion is an asset.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and service-focused.
Ability to work onsite at the plant full-time.
