Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Systems and Operations, the Dayforce Analyst is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and usability of RainCity's HR information system. This role combines data management, system administration, and analytical reporting to ensure that Dayforce remains a trusted source of truth for Payroll, HR, and Finance stakeholders.

The Dayforce Analyst develops and maintains recurring and ad hoc reports, manages user access and configuration changes, and helps create clear documentation and SOPs that guide consistent data practices. The role also supports and trains end users and timekeepers--primarily program managers--on reporting, timekeeping accuracy, and system workflows to improve data quality and reduce rework across teams.

Working closely with Payroll, HR Operations, and IT, this role supports data governance, troubleshooting, and process improvement initiatives across the employee lifecycle. It requires a strong analytical thinker who can translate complex data or configuration challenges into practical, reliable solutions. Ideal candidates may come from a variety of backgrounds, including HRIS, payroll, business analysis, or STEM fields such as computer science or engineering, but share the ability to manage data accurately, understand relational structures, and continuously improve system processes.

Qualifications

Minimum education and experience include:



Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in Human Resources, Business, or a STEM field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering. A minimum of one (1) year of recent experience in an HRIS, payroll, or data systems environment. Demonstrated ability to create, maintain, and troubleshoot reports or data extracts from relational databases. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (particularly Excel, including lookups, Power Query, or pivot tables). Strong documentation and administrative skills, including the ability to draft and maintain standard operating procedures.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. For example, candidates may come from one of several professional backgrounds, including:

HRIS or HR Operations roles with exposure to Dayforce or other enterprise HR systems. Payroll roles with hands-on reporting, pay code setup, or system troubleshooting experience. Business or data analyst roles with knowledge of relational databases and reporting logic. Computer science or IT roles with system configuration or data management experience, and an interest in HR/payroll applications.

Preferred qualifications

Experience with Dayforce, particularly in reporting, configuration, or security administration. Familiarity with relational database systems and one or more SQL-based environments (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Transact-SQL). Experience in unionized or multi-agreement environments with complex pay rules. Experience supporting end users or managers in troubleshooting or improving workflows

Additional requirements

Experience in a non-profit, unionized organization preferred. Ability to understand, communicate and support the mission and values of RainCity Housing, and the models/methods of supporting clients including the principles of Housing First and Harm Reduction. A clear British Columbia Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable adults and/or children is a condition of employment with RainCity Housing. Applicants must be willing and able to receive a clearance under the Criminal Record Review Act. Skills to contribute to safety in the workplace, including: Demonstrated anti-racism knowledge and skills to support racialized communities, including knowledge of Canada's historical and ongoing colonialism and its impact on Indigenous peoples. Demonstrated anti-discrimination knowledge and skills to support equity-seeking groups, including the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, people who use drugs and alcohol, people living with mental health conditions, and sex workers.

Position Accountabilities

Administers and maintains Dayforce to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across HR, Payroll, and Finance modules. Develops, tests, and maintains recurring and ad hoc reports, validating data joins and structures to ensure accuracy and eliminate duplication. Monitors data integrity and partners with Payroll, HR Operations, and Finance to identify and resolve discrepancies at the source. Supports managers and timekeepers by providing guidance and training on time entry, reporting, and workflow accuracy to reduce corrections and rework. Creates and maintains clear documentation and SOPs for reporting, configuration changes, and data governance processes. Participates in configuration and upgrade cycles, testing, documenting, and promoting approved changes to production under change control. Collaborates with IT and other stakeholders to maintain secure access, system reliability, and effective integrations. Interfaces with Information Systems and external partners to identify and implement scalable solutions and automations that improve efficiency and data flow. Conducts analysis to support Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives, using Dayforce data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for process optimization. Supports policy and workflow redesign by providing analytical insight, documentation, and system configuration recommendations. Promotes knowledge sharing through well-designed business processes and accessible reporting tools, ensuring staff have the right information at the right time. Maintains system and process documentation, including configuration records, job aids, and procedural manuals. Participates on cross-functional working groups, task forces, and corporate projects to align HR systems with organizational goals. Builds and maintains effective working relationships across all levels of the organization. Operates within a Centre of Excellence (COE) model where collaboration across HR, Payroll, and Finance is essential. Duties and accountabilities may evolve as business needs and system requirements change.
