Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources and Safety, the HR Coordinator handles the day-to-day administrative and support tasks of the HR department, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records, and compliance, serving as a link between employees and management.
Primary Responsibilities
Support recruitment by posting job ads, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and preparing offer letters.
Support hiring managers by collecting resumes, screening candidates, and facilitating follow-up communication.
Coordinate onboarding and preparation of new hires for orientation, including paperwork and all related communication and logistics.
Maintain accurate employee records such as job descriptions, evaluations, and all relevant HR required licenses and certifications, such as HUB Screenings, SRATs, and CRCs.
Act as a point of contact for employee HR-related queries and help resolve issues by directing them to the appropriate support person.
Attend recruitment fairs and community events to represent the organization and promote employment opportunities.
Build relationships with universities, colleges, and community organizations to strengthen recruitment pipelines.
Handle general HR administration such as scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and supporting HR projects.
Monitor compliance with labour laws and HR policies.
Provide support in interpreting and applying HR policies and procedures.
Other duties or tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of two (1) years' experience in a human resources or a related role.
Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Working towards a CPHR Designation is considered an asset.
Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders including verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
An introductory understanding of Provincial Employment Standards and Human Rights legislation.
Experience maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
