Job Description

Are you a strategic HR professional with strong business acumen and a passion for aligning people strategies with operational goals? We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support a dynamic, mid-sized public sector organization undergoing transformation and growth.
This is a permanent role with broad scope - leading workforce planning, supporting organizational effectiveness, and serving as a key advisor to business leaders and leadership teams.
Hybrid work model, 3 days in office, 2 days from home.
Responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior leaders to assess, develop, and implement workforce strategies that align with business goals.
  • Lead annual workforce planning processes, identifying talent gaps, resourcing needs, and succession strategies.
  • Provide expert guidance on organizational design, role classification, and team structure.
  • Coach and support leaders on employee relations, performance management, and engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with HR centers of excellence (e.g., Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition) to deliver tailored solutions.
  • Support change management efforts during key organizational initiatives.
  • Interpret policies and ensure alignment with employment legislation and organizational values.
  • Build trusted relationships across departments and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in a business partner or senior generalist role, ideally in the public sector
  • Proven experience in workforce planning, organizational development, and leadership coaching.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices in Alberta.
  • Experience supporting teams through change and process improvement.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • A CPHR designation (or working toward) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with unions and collective agreements; running grievances and building collaborative relationships.
  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors would be considered a benefit.
