PURPOSE OF ROLE

As the HR Advisor, Canada, you will work in partnership with the Head of HR, regional and global HR teams, and Commercial Director to deliver against the talent strategy, key people initiatives and annual HR milestones. You will monitor key people KPIs and organizational health indicators, adjust strategies to continuously drive top performance, as well as being a first point of contact for all HR queries for the Canada region, including Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, and Alberta. This role is a 12-month maternity cover, and will be based at our Toronto Head Office in Trinity Bellwoods.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

People & HR

Develop and formulate plans on improving employee engagement, supporting leaders and people managers while ensuring accountability; utilize employee listening tools and approaches (i.e. team meetings, focus groups, Glint) to facilitate improvement in ways of working supporting change and continuous improvement

Promote diversity & inclusion across the business, be the brand ambassador for employees and local communities

Communicate needs and influence the relevant HR Centers of Excellence to design and develop improved programs and activities through local insights and feedback

Provide support for Immigration and sponsorship cases. Work closely with the external Immigration Lawyers and Global Rewards.

Collaborate with Americas HR team members (Talent Acquisition, HR, People Services) to support the employee lifecycle. Provide coaching and support the HR team members

Work closely with the People Services and Payroll teams ensuring effective communication/information flow between teams and employees

Employee Relations

Manage escalated underperformance, misconduct and grievances ensuring that disciplinary action is fair and consistent

Conduct investigations for disciplinary and internal grievance processes, draft all correspondence relating to formal processes. Escalate complex issues to Head of HR where appropriate

Upskill and coach People Managers on various ER related topics to ensure consistency and fairness in approach

Conduct exit interviews, recording key messages and sharing themes with business partners where appropriate; analyze data to identify opportunities and provide ideas and solutions to improve retention

Continuously evaluate/develop best practice HR end to end processes/tools

Ensure policies and procedures are up to date, reflective of legislation and best practices, and able to effectively protect the business

Manage Parental and statutory leaves of absence cases in accordance with Aesop policy and legislative requirements

Talent, Development & Reward

Take ownership for managing and executing annual Year End performance and salary and bonus process, liaising with the Global Reward team where necessary

Partner with Commercial Director and RBMs to calibrate and ensure consistency approach across the market

Support with communication and training for People Managers regarding Pay Review and Performance Management

Support Managers and staff to identify training, development, and career advancement opportunities in line with the growth and the direction of the company

Take an active role in the facilitation of Talent Review processes and support leaders to plan key development actions

Manage the full-cycle Canadian benefits and RRSP relationship including annual review and renewal processes while identifying areas for adjustment and potential improvement in our offering

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrable progressive experience in Human Resources, with a track record of managing ER cases as well as partnering with the business on all aspects of employee lifecycle activities

Strong knowledge and understanding of Canadian legislation, employment law, and pay practices

Demonstrated experience bringing forward valuable insights through HR data and analytics

Experience utilizing Workday HRIS or Payworks, a plus

Experience in employee engagement, talent management, coaching and development

Strong business and numbers acumen and commercial understanding; experience within the retail, customer service, or hospitality industries, with fast paced growth retail environment, preferred

Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment in a global organization

Understanding of Aesop\xe2\x80\x99s approach and a passion for the brand education

Effective team builder with the ability to inspire and engage with the wider team

Confidence in enabling change across an organization

Able to problem solve, influence, and create positive stakeholder relationships

Fluency in French, a plus.
