Metis Capital Housing Corporation (MCHC), an affiliate of the Metis Nation of Alberta, was incorporated in 2007 to provide affordable, adequate and suitable housing to moderate to high income Indigenous families in Alberta. We currently have 370 units in 5 urban centres. MCHC employs over 40 full and part time staff; together we oversee tenant relations and property management needs for thousands of tenants. Together with our sister organization Metis Urban Housing Corporation, we offer subsidized and affordable housing across the province of Alberta and are the largest Indigenous housing provider in Alberta. THE OPPORTUNITY



Make a difference in the lives of Metis individuals and families. Metis Capital Housing Corporation is seeking a compassionate, organized, and culturally aware Housing Support Worker to join our Reaching Home Program team. This role focuses on helping tenants at Cecil Bellrose Manor maintain housing stability by supporting their overall well-being and connecting them to community resources.

As the Housing Support Worker, you will assist tenants in achieving long-term housing stability and self-sufficiency. Under the direction of the Reaching Home Program Manager, you will develop strong relationships with tenants, provide hands-on support, and collaborate with internal teams and external partners. Your work will support clients' physical, emotional, social, and cultural needs while maintaining administrative accuracy and program compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Client Support & Housing Stability

Build and maintain trusted relationships with tenants and internal housing teams. Assist clients with move-ins, applications, and documentation. Develop individualized goals and action plans for tenants transitioning to independence. Refer clients to relevant community supports and resources. Provide housing education and collaborate with the Reaching Home team and if needed, the Tenant Administration Department regarding tenant concerns. Represent the organization professionally at community events and meetings. Uphold confidentiality and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
Administrative Duties

Ensure accurate and complete client records and documentation. Maintain and update the client database with timely and precise information. Submit administrative paperwork on time and in accordance with program policies. Follow established workflows and procedures to support program efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS



Education & Experience

Diploma in Social Work or Human Services. 3-5 years of related experience or a combination of education and relevant work experience. First Aid certification.
Professional designation

Membership with the Alberta College of Social Work as a Registered Social Worker (if applicable).

COMPETENCIES



Knowledge of public housing systems and programs, particularly those supporting Indigenous communities. Strong understanding of Metis culture, history, and a trauma-informed approach to client care. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Proficiency in MS Office and general office equipment. Excellent time management, documentation, and communication skills. Understanding of Reaching Home program principles (an asset). Physical fitness for tasks including lifting, carrying, and moving items.

Pay: $52,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
