Full-time night shift:

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and bi-weekly alternating Wednesdays 6:45 pm-6:45 am



This is an awake night shift position. Team Leads must remain alert and responsive throughout the shift.

POSITION SUMMARY:




Reporting to the Manager of Mirrors Supportive Housing, the Team Lead plays a key role in supporting a safe and responsive living environment for youth and young adults. This position fosters a professional and collaborative team culture while providing leadership and mentorship to Housing Support Staff. Working during the overnight shift, the Team Lead supports critical decision-making, crisis response, and operational functions to ensure a safe and supportive environment for both participants and staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Team Leadership & Support



Provide senior-level support to the overnight team, including addressing complex interpersonal dynamics Debrief with staff after critical incidents and offer guidance and mentorship Assign shift tasks and ensure timely completion Encourage teamwork and foster a positive, respectful workplace culture Support student practicums and new staff orientation Model healthy team dynamics, professional communication, and ethical boundaries

Participant Support & Crisis Response



Be the first responder to overnight crises and participant needs Provide trauma-informed support and harm reduction care Engage participants in tasks such as room cleaning, including situations involving biohazards (PPE provided) Support consistent application of program agreements and participant expectations

Operational Support



Oversee nightly operations and ensure smooth handovers between shifts Support administrative duties such as incident reporting and data collection Inform management about programming needs and trends

Community & Program Engagement



Maintain professional relationships with participants, community partners, and team members Be familiar with and build positive connections with local support services and resources

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:



Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience (preferably with vulnerable populations) Minimum 3 years of recent experience working with vulnerable populations A diploma or degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and lived experience Strong knowledge of harm reduction and client-centred practice Understanding of the impacts of addiction, mental health, homelessness, and poverty Knowledge of the psychosocial rehabilitation model Experience working with individuals facing multiple barriers to housing Experience working night shifts or in 24/7 care environments Naloxone training and overdose response experience Occupational First Aid Level 1

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



Strong leadership and decision-making skills Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication Ability to work calmly in high-stress situations and make sound judgments Ability to work independently while contributing to an integrated team Physically able to lift 30 lbs, kneel for medical emergencies, and walk up/down six flights of stairs Ability to wear appropriate PPE such as a fitted half mask respirator Comfortable working in environments with active substance use and animals (pet-friendly facility)
