JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
SOAR Community Services offers a continuum of social housing services to meet client needs ranging from homelessness to independent living. As part of the continuum, we offer Emergency Shelter Intake Services to support clients in securing emergency accommodations, which includes a waiting room open 16 hours 24/7/365, as well as our emergency shelter, Housing Resource Centre, Transitional Housing and Supportive Housing programs.
As part of our Housing Resource Centre, individuals and their families will be able to contact staff for support Monday-Friday between 8:30am-4:30pm if they are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness. Clients will be supported with both low-touch and medium-high touch services based on their self-identified need and will be referred to resources including legal clinics, income support services, food bank services, identification and tax clinics, as well as Brant Access to Housing, Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit, and the Housing Stability Fund in addition to being supported with housing searches and learning their rights and responsibilities as a tenant to prepare for successful tenancy.
As the Housing Resource Centre Case Manager, you will:
Deliver direct client service to all individuals and families who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness.
Complete SPDAT assessments and support with housing applications including Brant Access to Housing, Canada - Ontario Housing Benefit and the Housing Stability Fund.
Work collaboratively with the Housing Services team in order to ensure program delivery to all clients.
Integrate a harm reduction approach.
Ensure all documentation, filing, and paperwork is completed according to Agency standards in multiple electronic databases for reporting requirements.
Participate in department and sector case management meetings.
Liaise with available resources including landlords and referring agencies according to client-identified prioritization of needs and interventions.
Hours of work
: Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm with flexibility to meet program needs
Training: Initial comprehensive training related to all aspects of the role, as well as access to ongoing professional development
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Annual salary: Band #6- $47,288 - $51,870 plus shift premiums and comprehensive benefits

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Have a college diploma in a Human/Social Services field.
Have a minimum of 2 years' combined student placement and/or paid experience working with individuals with substance use, mental health and/or concurrent disorders and/or individuals experiencing homelessness.
Be proficient in MS Office and be familiar with databases.
Have a valid Driver's License
Be able to manage occasional exposure to vicarious traumatic stress.
Be able to make regular visits to uncontrolled environments, such as client homes and public meeting locations. This may include exposure to smoking environments.
Please also note that the successful candidate will be required to provide a police vulnerable sector check as a condition of employment, however strong consideration is made to the type of offense.
